Python IS slow and you know it. This is you trolling for views, but I will indulge you. The GIL makes it slower even than the other single thread interpreted langauges (php and javascript). Can it be used in production ? Sure it can, and there are places where it does shine - handling aribtrarily large numbers springs to mind. For general purpose use, would literally any other choice be faster ? Yes.
