From a scouting perspective, Reggie Wayne was one of the most polished and technically sound wide receiver prospects of the early 2000s. He wasn’t a receiver who relied solely on elite speed or athleticism. Instead, he consistently won with route-running, football IQ, strong hands, body control, and an advanced understanding of how to attack defensive leverage. He showed the ability to change tempo throughout routes, create separation at the top of breaks, and consistently make himself available to the quarterback Reported Pre-Draft Measurements & Testing • Height: 6’0” • Weight: 198 lbs • 40-Yard Dash: Reported 4.45–4.55 • Vertical Jump: Reported 36” • Drafted: 1st Round, 30th Overall (2001 NFL Draft) At @CanesFootball, Wayne finished his career with 173 receptions, 2,510 receiving yards, and 20 touchdowns, leaving as the school’s all-time leader in receptions at the time. His production was impressive, but what stood out most on film was how consistently he created separation, caught the football, and moved the chains in critical situations Miami Accolades: 🏆 Big East Rookie of the Year (1997) 🏆 First-Team All-Big East (2000) 🏆 Miami Career Receptions Leader at Graduation 🏆 University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame What Stood Out on Film: • Elite route-running and route discipline • Strong, reliable hands • Excellent understanding of leverage and coverage • Outstanding body control and sideline awareness • Toughness working the middle of the field • Reliable third-down target • High football IQ and attention to detail • Consistent ability to create separation What made Wayne different was his ability to get open against virtually any coverage. He understood how to set up defensive backs, manipulate leverage, and create clean throwing windows. His game was built on precision, consistency, and technique rather than relying strictly on athletic traits Those same qualities carried over to the NFL, where he developed into one of the league’s most dependable and productive receivers with the @Colts NFL Accolades: 🏆 Super Bowl XLI Champion 🏆 6× Pro Bowl Selection 🏆 3× First-Team All-Pro 🏆 NFL Receiving Yards Leader (2007) 🏆 Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor 🏆 8 Seasons with 1,000+ Receiving Yards 🏆 1,070 Career Receptions 🏆 14,345 Career Receiving Yards 🏆 82 Career Touchdowns

So @AhmmonR2 said on the @CanesInSight podcast today that this years #Canes WR depth is the best he can recall. There's no denying that, but there have been years where UM has had WR rooms where 5/6 guys (1987) and other where 4/5 guys made the NFL. It will be interesting to see how Shannon Dawson and Kevin Bearnd handles that rotation outside. My view is that this team is built for spread and without a standout tight end, I can envision more 10-sets and just airing it out a bit, at times. This is not an offense that should be trying to shorten games, IMO...

The last time Texas A&M was in the state of Florida, they lost to Miami. The last time Texas A&M was in Kyle Field, they lost to Miami. The only thing that Texas A&M owns is an 87-year streak without a national title.
