As a council we take seriously our responsibility to residents and we are clear about what we can, and can’t do when it comes to sewage in our sea. We’re neither Southern Water, with the responsibility for dealing with sewage, nor the Environment Agency, with enforcement powers.

At Full Council last night, the Leader of Canterbury City Council, Cllr Alan Baldock, made it clear that despite the backdrop of changes at Kent County Council, we will continue to make decisions for our own residents and deal effectively with issues that are within our own remit. It's our Canterbury City Council, and it's our choice.

Winning with an impressive 47% of the vote and standing on our administration's record of delivering locally, we’re absolutely delighted that Beth Forrester has been elected to represent the fantastic people of St Stephen's, having spoken to hundreds of people and heard what matters to them and their families.
