I am the Weed Drinks Guy and I am saying this in no uncertain terms: THC Beverages will not survive on their own. It is completely unacceptable to leave full spectrum CBD banned and only legalize THC Beverages, and politically untenable. It is cruel, unnecessary, and bad policy.

We have literal thousands of years of anecdotal data about human consumption of cannabis, and less than 5 years of data about human consumption of synthetic cannabinoids like THCP. When these products are marketed, they make unsubstantiated, outlandish claims. So yeah, I don't think people should be allowed to make random chemicals in a lab and then lie to people about what they do to make a buck.

@shdwstar @cantripguy I don’t know how much of a market there would be for synthetic cannabinoids without regular prohibition, but the idea of all that ban them it’s the same stupid shit and again as soon as there’s anything negative about real cannabis, people are gonna apply the same logic

Anyone who knows my advocacy work knows where I stand, but here's a quick summary if you're new here: 1. All cannabis should be legal, regulated, and safe for consumption 2. Some hemp meets that; much more doesn't 3. If you're selling hemp flower, it better be real hemp with a chain of custody, proper batch testing for potency and contaminants, and not some sprayed Chinese shit - and the abuse of this system is leading to the collapse of the hemp system generally 4. Synthetic cannabinoids not found in nature should be banned 5. Marijuana dispensaries are fine, but far from a perfect end product of what regulated, legal cannabis should look like It's not that complicated. I want there to be no legal difference among cannabis depending on how it was grown; I want all cannabis to be legal. I don't think all cannabis needs to be sold in the retail equivalent of Fort Knox to be safe for the public, and I think overregulation is strangling the dispensary channel industry, just as underregulation will lead to the death of hemp. I've been doing this for 16 years now between advocacy and professional work.

Okay. Hemp drinks. It's completely fucking unclear to me lmao. On one hand, as @aaronvalue has pointed out, today's news about 3MG being in full spectrum could be considered a big signal. But signals get lost and forgotten. I'm convinced that specific set up was pushed by Charlotte's Web / Howard Kessler, and it could end up where things land. There's also a massive push from retailers via BAMCO probably for something more like 5MG. But you're always safest betting on Congressional inertia. My gut says we see prohibition starting November 13th, and then maybe a Griffith style bill when we get a Democratic Congress and/or Andy Harris loses his seat. Long term, THC drinks will live. Next 2 years are going to be the roughest seas we've ever seen.

2026 is going to forge some legendary beverage operators from hemp. I'm not sure any previous bev companies have had to deal with the insane challenge of planning for a "probable but maybeeee not" ban in a calendar year

@cantripguy Hopefully now instead of lobbying to keep marijuana illegal, hemp will finally join the legalization fight and start pushing for a legal regulated marijuana market in the U.S. with one set of rules for selling THC. Instead of lobbying to keep a hemp loophole open.

@MarginCall_420 No path to a successful beverage business when dispensaries cap at 5mg. Even at higher dose states like IL, the volume isn't there for beverages. We ran in MA dispensaries for years, its not good business

@cantripguy You should just join the state regulated industries if you want to sell THC. Hemp has screwed itself with the unregulated synthetic trash products on the market, which is 90% of products. Fact is majority of intoxicating hemp products are complete trash and toxic bathtub gin.

We test random samples picked off the line sent to labs that run hemp AND marijuana testing and are fully capable of the protocols. We test for far more panels than most state regulatory bodies require on every single product. We test at Trichome Analytical which literally runs most testing for NJ's cannabis program.

@cantripguy You guys doing the testing yourself and choosing the lab of your choice and what they are going to test for is not the same as being regulated to test through state owned labs or required to test for regulated lists of banned substances.

We are absolutely required to have 3rd party testing, and all of our THC comes from a direct extraction process drinkcantrip.com/test-results I've worked in cannabis for over a decade, including 8 years on the marijuana side of the industry, and I can tell you for certain our hemp products are higher quality and safer than anything produced in a marijuana facility

@cantripguy Gen X here and I prefer naturally derived safe marijuana over the hemp synthetics that often contain toxic residual chemicals from the synthesis process with no regulation or required 3rd party testing.
