🚨We just dropped in on Farage’s election rally with a beaming picture of Putin. Nigel was not pleased.

It would appear that Mr Yaxley-Lennon has freedom of movement in the EU.

“We’re broken economically” says Nigel Farage Not a single journalist present points out the Brexit he championed & inflicted on us is calculated by Bloomberg to be costing the UK £100bn a year in lost output If that outrages you as much as it does me RT this widely

Nigel Farage just told a room full of journalists “We’re broken economically” and he’s come out of retirement to save the country Not a single journalist present pointed out that by almost every economic & financial measure the Brexit he championed has been disastrous for the UK

The piece was about the then 70th anniversary of the 1945 general election and this story came from nowhere. There is a particular Labour context here, a bit of Labour folk memory. But for me, her reaction is reflective of how embedded those events in Normandy in our national psyche, how D-Day means something substantial and substantially different in subtle ways for different people. And why the Sunak episode is so potentially damaging, with older voters, in particular.

Have been thinking all day about this interview I did with Margaret Beckett (nearly 10yrs ago) when she talked about going to the D-Day 50th anniversary as Leader of the Opposition. Have never forgotten it, because the memory quite suddenly and unexpectedly, reduced her to tears.
