@capsraunak thanks for adding the word 'meritocracy' in my dictionary 🙂
English

1200 applications. 3 interviews. 0 offers.
This is what "meritocracy" looks like in 2026.
Companies post "we're hiring" on LinkedIn the same week they reject 900 resumes with an auto-generated email.
Nobody tells freshers the real requirement know someone, or don't bother. The job market isn't broken. It was never fair to begin with.
Stop blaming your resume. Start blaming the system pretending resumes matter.
English

A non-IIT dev is out here building the actual product in production, right now, today getting paid less, respected less.
An IIT tag gets the interview call before anyone even opens your GitHub, before anyone reads a single line of code.
Companies say "we hire for skill, not pedigree" and reject 95% of resumes before skill even enters the picture.
A tag from a test you gave at 17 is still deciding your salary at 25. This was never about talent. It's just sorting people by a label and calling it merit.

I got asked for a speaker bio yesterday.
Instead of writing a polished paragraph,
I ended up writing the whole road here.

Hot take
The companies replacing engineers because of AI today will be hiring engineers because of AI tomorrow. The more software gets generated, the more software exists to maintain.
The more systems become automated, the more systems require oversight.
Technology has a long history of creating new complexity while solving old complexity. AI won't be the exception.
