With the transfer of operations to our administration, transportation to and from @ShelbyJuvenile for youth housed at YJEC resumed this week. Reinstatement of this service ensures youth get to their hearings on time, respecting their legal right to due process.

It takes 8.

The in-kind contribution from xAI to four Memphis schools is very welcome and most appreciated (two MSCS board members notwithstanding). The maintenance needs at these four schools alone are anticipated to cost more than $90 million over the next two decades. These are expenses we simply cannot cover alone, considering Shelby County’s total burden of $10 billion in infrastructure needs over the next 20 years. These kinds of partnerships are absolutely vital to our future as a community. Thank you, xAI. #MemphisFirst

Yesterday in committee the county commission considered five resolutions I am sponsoring to approve another $1,588,561 in jail repairs. This board is taking issues with the jail very seriously.

@mickwright Mick, Is there any chance she gets the job back, if she wants it?

It seems like one.

Can the district be in a state of emergency even if it didn't get this way overnight?

This is part of the problem of addressing our challenges for the city and county, that we don't raise and use additional revenue. The last thing we should be doing is reducing the tax rate too low that we can't invest in the things we need - housing, transit, education, youth...

I'm proud to announce that for the 7th year in a row, my budget presentation today will have no property tax increase. This is unprecedented for a Shelby County Mayor in recent years. In fact, this a.m., I’m proposing we cut the property tax rate by 20%.

2026 could be quite the year for school board elections should the county commission also vote to put all nine seats on the ballot dailymemphian.com/article/51392/…
