Let’s get this straight. Today, I released a video on Minecraft cape scams as a warning to my viewers to not fall for them. In the video, I showed a website that was selling a Minecraft cape for literally $1,000. Mind you, I didn't name them or show any logo or URL, just their public front page and what they were selling. Next thing I know, I get pinged on Discord and called out for "defamation" by the owner, saying I was "hurting their brand." A brand that is selling Minecraft cape codes... something that explicitly violates the Minecraft Usage Guidelines, the Minecraft EULA, and the Minecraft Experience Terms. Right after that, presumably the people behind this website sent a bunch of customers after me to comment on YouTube. (This is proven by the fact that the usernames of the YouTube accounts match the usernames of Discord users in their server who have a "customer" role). Within a span of 5 minutes, 6 obviously coordinated comments appeared, calling this website by its actual name and calling it legit. Keep in mind: I NEVER mentioned their name in the video, nor did I claim they weren't legit. They literally revealed their own name to the world and started claiming their legitimacy, even though my video wasn't targeting them and was instead just a general "be careful" warning to all my viewers. The video was never a personal attack, hence why I went out of my way to HIDE their URL and name from the video. The reality is that LOTS of people get scammed by buying cape codes online, many of my viewers included (not by this website specifically, something I never claimed either). I made the video to raise awareness about the massive risks of buying codes online, as well as the absurd prices being charged. Moral of the story, careful out there.
