periodic reminder that i block EXTREMELY liberally, and the *only* thing that makes me second-guess whether someone should get banished to my shadow realm is if i happen to see a "follow back" next to the username (and/or recognize the person as a "friendly")

people always want a checklist of things to look for to determine if a passage of text was AI generated, but it doesn't work that way the most reliable way to detect genAI fanfic is not with text detectors or by looking for em dashes, but by reading for *substance*

so i've decided to share some info about a prolific writer on here. i'm doing it because she also takes commissions and charges a lot for those commissions. there is a substantial amount of money involved, i find the entire thing unethical, and i feel very strongly about the issues involved. i've been talking to various people today about what the right thing to do here is. i'm very against calling out specific people for ai creative writing because of how cruel and damaging it would be if that person was innocent. the reason i'm breaking my own rule here is because of the substantial evidence, the deceptive behaviour, and the money involved. i honestly think it would be unethical to know these things, not say anything, and continue letting people spend their money. ultimately, my goal is just for people to be made aware of these facts so they can spend their money with that informed perspective. this isn't a hate campaign or a call to action in any way other than blocking/muting at your discretion. i think what they are doing is wrong and i think people should be informed. that's all.
