How it started: How it's going:

As a first-gen student, I've always known that other students with legacies in academia or family histories of college education have inherent advantages over me, but I don't think I've ever been able to see and understand that as clearly as today.

There are going to be a lot of folks asking why young people are disproportionately trans or non-binary without ever considering that, maybe, just maybe, there are hundreds of thousands of older trans and non-binary adults who are still in the closet. nytimes.com/2022/06/10/sci…

The news has been horrid and dismal in every sense of the word but this is definitely worth sharing and celebrating it. The land can properly heal again when it’s properly returned to the stewards it historically belongs to.

I don't think that expecting teachers to admit when they are demonstrably wrong and to correct their mistakes is all that controversial a stance, personally. It doesn't lose them credibility. On the contrary, it would increase it.

Please don’t ask us to “unify” with people who deny the humanity of those who aren’t like them. I have less than zero desire to unify with anyone like that. I don’t think I’m alone in feeling like that.

1/ I think the reason there’s such a large gendered difference in the perception of Elon Musk is because of life experiences. I think for white men, he’s a power fantasy of a world where your wildest ideas have unlimited resources but for women he represents something else.

I will never understand people who want everyone else to suffer because they have suffered. How do people getting their student debt forgiven impact the debt you paid? I’m trying for a world where any roadblocks I’ve endured can be cleared for anyone coming after me.

I want student loans forgiven, but I want a long term so the next generation isn’t engulfed in debt too. Something has to be done to make higher education affordable. This is coming from someone without student loan debt.

The quieter we are, the more politically expedient, the further we move right— the more Democrats are doing the Republicans' job for them. We must forcefully call out the lies, bigotry and bad faith attacks, retake the narrative and prove we can protect all of our communities.

Hi @delta. Your flight attendants greeting us “would you like champagne? Let’s celebrate no more masks” is not what I paid for. It’s not only childish but also creates an uncomfortable, and potentially hostile environment for those of us still masked. COVID is also not seasonal.

@nytimes Even though we're tired of masks & they are for sure an irritant, many will still choose to wear masks while traveling in close quarters with others until variants are more under control.
