Took the rickshaw wala to hospital and he was discharged after some dressing etc. came home and said Rama saved me. Kept mentioning this Krithi all along! One of my favorites too.

My father heard this Krithi probably for the first time in a Nedunuri concert in Rajamahendravaram. He was coming back in rickshaw and got hit by a lorry. He escaped with very very few minor injuries and rickshaw puller with too with few minor ones.

In the krithi, 'lekhana' in Asaveri, Tyagaraja asks 'would people surround you if the did not derive joy being besides you' and then describes the joy felt by Sita, Hanuman and others. Semmangudi singing the krithi. youtube.com/watch?v=svRep5…

M D Ramanathan admonishes the people who get up to go out when mangalam starts. He says this is the most important piece and he can sing the mangalam for 45 minutes. He is one of the very few. if not the only one, to sing all stanzas of the krithi.

[Tyagaraja & Rama - A thread] Tyagaraja considered himself as much a rama bhakta as a composer. Rama was his ista dhaivam, his muse. He worshipped the idol of Rama daily and was distraught when he lost the idol. His krithis are mostly his conversations with Rama.
