@Ed_for_Equity Maybe we could step into some homes. Vaccines make it more viable and our student would be the richer!

@Ed_for_Equity I've heard several educators say that students need to be allowed to be children first upon their return, and students after. II believe that the more play we introduce into our curriuclum for EC (and all students), the better for everyone. #postpandemiceducation #equityfootprint

@Ed_for_Equity We have vision impaired and hearing impaired students who have been expected to learn while accessing the Google chrome book. This is not at all equitable for these students. They need to be the exception and have accommodations that would meet their unique learning needs.

@Ed_for_Equity Those who are not interested in virtual lessons have not been able to continue learning at the same rate that they did before remote learning. It has been a tragedy to see many of these students (especially younger students) lose skills without face-to-face instruction.

A.3. If I see my students getting bored or just not engaged, I try to change what we are doing at that time and do something fun like a brain break, a video or a read aloud. #NCBTChat

@holmes_rhonda A2: I do frequent home-visits, as well as weekly postcards to students letting them know that I appreciate their hard work. I also make phone calls to students and families often to catch up and to have some 1:1 conversations with students. #NCBTChat

Our school puts an emphasis on Restorative Practices! “Circle Time” with kids have opened up pathways to student relationships that the screen naturally keeps closed. It’s the most rewarding time of my day. 🙌 @haroldwinklerms #NCBTChat

Q2. COVID outbreaks, A Day/B Day rotations, internet connectivity, and device issues keep in-person learning during this time challenging, to say the least. #LessonsLearned #NCBTChat #PandemicPandemonium #LessonsLearned

@StoverScience A1 we have made yard signs for my students! “A Cool and Loved kid lives here!” We wanted to communicate with families how much we value their student!

A1. I used video conferencing to talk to parents during the pandemic. I will continue this as we return to F2F teaching because it enables me to meet with parents on their schedule to ensure we are supporting their child as a team! #NCBTChat #PandemicPandemonium #LessonsLearned

@Ed_for_Equity Even connecting with classes across our country makes our world bigger and more connected. My daughter in law and I both teach special education students. She is in the greater Seattle area, which is a different culture than North Carolina. We try to connect our students.

@AshleyBaileyam @Ed_for_Equity I heard one district teacher of the year talk about her language class she teaches. She cannot isolate language from culture and history. This is such an important component of teaching languages. More #equityfootprints teachers like this one!

@Ed_for_Equity Our district has implemented Spanish immersion programs at two elementary schools. These programs have revitalized those schools and been very popular.
