On March 23rd of that year, two young girls were riding their bikes through the neighbourhood. Betty June Binnicker was 11. Mary Emma Thames was 8. They stopped to ask George and his sister where they could find some flowers. That was the last anyone saw them alive. Their bodies were found in a ditch later that day. Be@ten with something heavy. A railroad spike, they believed. By nightfall, the police had already decided who did it.
