Raila Odinga was a true champion of democracy. A child of independence, he endured decades of struggle and sacrifice for the broader cause of freedom and self-governance in Kenya. Time and again, I personally saw him put the interests of his country ahead of his own ambitions. Like few other leaders anywhere, he was willing to choose the path of peaceful reconciliation without compromising his core values. Through his life, Raila Odinga set an example not just for Kenyans, but across Africa and around the world. I know he will be missed. Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to his family and to the people of Kenya.

To Mama Ida, the children, and the entire Odinga family, I extend my deepest, most heartfelt condolences. You have shared Baba with Kenya for a lifetime, and we mourn with you. We have lost a father to the nation, a steadfast champion for the people, and a true son of Kenya ~H.E Uhuru Kenyatta

Earlier on during the breakfast breakout session, discussions on fertility and Sexual Reproductive Health targeting family planning were led by Dr. Bashir Isaak from the Department of Family Health, @MOH_Kenya Under the Subthemes: Family planning as a socio-economic agenda for Kenya and family planning trends, determinants, successes and challenges, various speakers including Dr Edward Serem, Head-Division of RMNCAH, Dr. Sheila Macharia Managing Director @FP2030Global ESA Hub, Mrs. Charity Koronya, FP/RHCS Specialist, @UNFPAKen, Mr. Dennis Ndwiga, from @Kemsa_Kenya, Scholastica Kaaria, among other speakers, delved into issues of family planning, including FP Commodity security and improving data for FP decision making NCPD’s Deputy Director Moses Ouma presented on the factors associated with contraceptive non-use among sexually active women in Kenya, while Benard Kiprotich expounded on the multilevel analysis of factors influencing modern contraceptive use among young women in Kenya #KPDC2025 #KEPopulationDynamics #Familyplanning
