I was excited to have my blurb quoted on the jacket of @RexPickett’s The Archivist, out today. I was really happy to see the entire blurb on Amazon, since it mentions the surfacing of hidden labor and workplace issues as well.

We were hit hard by Hurricane Ida. We're closed for the rest of the academic year & are taking measures to ensure the long-term preservation of collections & improve the storage & research spaces. The flooding/damage to our areas means moving ~27,000 linear feet.

@RexPickett @IngallsLibrary @geofhuth I think there are many pathways to being an archivist & archivist jobs that don't use that title. I know there were debates in the past where people claimed their routes were the "correct" one, but hopefully that has passed. #AskAnArchivist

@IngallsLibrary Correct me if I'm wrong @carynradick @geofhuth but to me an archivist is anyone who works curating materials of an archival value, be it museums, special collections, private collections ... Why all these different titles? You're all #archivists ! And there should be way more!

I'd like to see more novels and screenplays coming out of the archival world. #AskAnArchivist #AskAnArchivistDay There're no dearth of stories. I hope my archivist lives on to sleuth another day. Can't wait to dive into the next book and collaborate with an #archivist.

@KDRoe122 #AskAnArchivist When I first met the man who would become my biggest mentor and champion in the profession, he asked why I wanted to be an archivist. I asked him why I would want to be anything else. We got along instantly!

@Rutgers_SCUA @carynradick There are so many stories in archives, I'm only one writer who wrote about it, and I'm not an #archivist #AskAnArchivist I'll bet every archivist out there has a novel or book of short stories of a collection of #poetry in their drawer.

@RexPickett makes a great point. Why aren't there more archivists in popular culture?! I (Tara) was going to say, "Maybe you should write something..." but @carynradick told me you beat me to that idea with a new book called "The Archivist." When is the book out?

#AskAnArchivist @thehenryford Why so few archivists in our world of Film/TV? It's all cops, docs, attorneys, mobsters. #archivists are sleuths of the soul, I discovered, when my papers were taken and I was swept into a world I never knew existed.
