This is happening in Poland right now. A woman named Lela, a Georgian citizen living in Poland, is 15 weeks pregnant and hospitalized in Olsztyn. She is vomiting blood. She cannot eat. She is being fed intravenously. She is physically collapsing. And doctors are refusing to perform an abortion. Polish law technically allows termination of pregnancy when a woman's physical or mental health is at risk. Yet doctors are hesitating while her condition worsens. How close to death does a woman have to be before she is considered "sick enough"? Forcing someone to continue a pregnancy while she is vomiting blood in a hospital bed is not "pro-life." If you believe in bodily autonomy, this is your issue. If you believe in medical ethics, this is your issue. If you believe women are not incubators, this is your issue. Because today it's Lela.
