I will always cherish the memory of my beautiful Calico (Winnie) and the day she overcame a terrible act of cruelty. Saved OTD in 2015 from the very person who should have protected her, she came into my life as a senior and redefined what it meant to be loyal and loving. She was an awesome companion, and while losing her to cancer in 2022 was heartbreaking, I am so proud to have been her person.

Friends! I am officially in the Dog House. It’s been a difficult afternoon for Mum and the Teenage One, and I didn’t help matters…. The Teenage One burnt something on the cooker, and it got very smoky in the kitchen. The smoke alarm went off and Baby Dog started crying because it hurt his ears. Mum opened the kitchen window to let the smoke out, whilst trying to stop the smoke alarm going off. She was then trying to calm Baby Dog, stop the oil from smoking on the top of the cooker, and checking the Triplets were nowhere near the kitchen. Guess what I did? I’m ashamed to say I jumped out of the window. I didn’t mean to - it was instinct. Then I led Mum a ‘right merry dance’ as she put it. She ran out the front to get me, and I ran round the back and jumped the fence into the back garden. Mum ran into the garden and I jumped the fence into next door’s garden. Etc etc. Eventually Mum rattled my food bowl and I came back. I know I was very, very naughty, and I’m sorry. I don’t know what came over me! 🙀 #Caturday

I remember my childhood Eid well; I would wake up with a genuine joy for which I knew no reason other than that the day was different. Back then, Eid happened in my heart before it happened in the streets, the clothes, and the sweets. I grew up and discovered that Eid hadn't lost its joy... we've simply become so burdened by life that we're no longer able to feel it. And since then, I've understood that what we long for isn't Eid itself... but that innocent spirit with which we used to experience it.. We understood too late that the joy wasn't in the fabric, but in hearts that were still simple and unburdened by age. We grew up... and Eid began to pass quietly, as if reminding us of what we lost, not what we bought. And we realized that our most beautiful Eids were when we were poor in things... rich in spirit Happy Eid to all my friends.. My wife, my children Ayman and Julia, and I send our greetings to you and hope that the next Eid will be better than what we are going through.. This is the first time we've celebrated the Eid without bombing or war in three years.. But we sadly see that other places are also being bombed... We are deeply affected by this war, as the black market has begun to grow and vegetable prices have increased tenfold due to the closure of the crossings... I appreciate your support and standing by me during this time. No one knows how long this war will last, so whenever I have the opportunity and means, I buy and store things for my family and the cats at the shelter... Thank you for your continued support.
