Seems an easy fix to use gender neutral language when generalising. I would appreciate it to stop me boiling over with rage every day listening to football daily #everydaysexism

As a big football fan, every day there are implications through language like that, that there are no women in the game, which is just not reflecting reality

@bbc5live are there editorial guidelines around using gendered language for football discussion/punditry? Lots of references just now to the "sports science guys"; feels exclusionary.

Why are we losing so many of our ground nesting birds? These are the scenes currently all over #Derbyshire & many counties - beautiful #wildflowermeadows mown down for silage (cattle feed). Curlew, Skylark, Meadow Pipit, Oystercatcher & Lapwing are ground nesting birds. Right now they will have eggs/chicks. All of which will be mown down, along with thousands of insects, mammals and other animals, who until now, have made this landscape their home. 74% of our land is currently managed under agricultural practices. We therefore need more incentives for farmers/land owners to manage their land on a rotation, allow nature back in & let these birds & other animals breed. Without this, our ground nesting birds, butterflies, moths, bees, bats, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and many creatures will continue to plummet and the iconic calls of our Skylarks, Curlews & Lapwings will vanish from our landscapes. The longer we cast nature aside, the harder it will be for it to bounce back. #NoMowSummer

Staying true to your values is really hard in organisations where values are nothing more than bland statements on a poster in the corridor at work. Bringing values to life means having hard, honest conversations - not brushing those who question under the glossy corporate carpet

Just watched a family feed slices of bread to a heron. They clearly loved birds and never meant intentional harm - more communication around this at lakesides could help hugely!

.@theroyalparks beautiful bird populations in your parks - how about more signage around lake hotspots to discourage feeding? Highlighting impacts of feeding (disease spread, nutritional issues etc) could prevent massive issues 🦆

Is this the first time police have explicitly stated 'menopause' as a reason for alleged female vulnerability? Seems unsettlingly close to what was termed 'hysteria' in the 19thC [nervous disease, 1801, coined in medical Latin as an abstract noun from Greek hystera 'womb'].
