To clarify: I love my PhD, it is easily the cushiest job I have ever had, three years' steady employment? In this economy? Yes please. But it is a 30 hour wage and we need to acknowledge that.

you're allowed to work 10 hours a week which takes it up to £10.22 an hour, which is why I'm not remotely ashamed of having a (better-paid) second job despite being a "fully-funded" "full-time" student

your friendly reminder that a fully-funded UK AHRC PhD student makes £7.66 per hour if they work a 40-hour work week (which is why I Don't Do That)
