@SigneSol0 And who cares for the wild and free horses when they break a leg? Who ends their suffering?
English

@SigneSol0 @RacehorseOwners @Animalww26 @SkySportsNews @MENnewsdesk Use up to date pictures and not ones that are many years old and then someone might just take you seriously.

They call the whip - foam …
That’s their level of contact with reality

@SigneSol0 Have you ever seen a procush "whip" doesn't look like what you've got in your diagram, it's made of foam. Get someone to whack you across the bum with one and see if it hurts, you never know u might enjoy it 😉🤪

@MikeParcej @WillieMullinsNH @PTownend No amount of good treatment beforehand can make up for how Gold Dancer was treated during his final race. If Townend had been the empathetic, caring jockey people (myself once included)claimed him to be then the runner up connections would have been occupying that empty spot.
English

Next, sadly an empty winners enclosure after the Mildmay. Gold Dancer beats Regent's Stroll, for @WillieMullinsNH and @PTownend but sadly sustains irreparable injuries in the process. Thoughts, sympathies to all connections. Remember, every day of his life - five star treatment.

English

@matrixgho5t @mjyharris If you can say that that was "just a slip" then you are a joke.
English

@catmum56 @mjyharris Are you seriously saying something looked wrong with the horse on the final run in? He looked completely fine. Are you suggesting every jockey pulls up when a horse has a slip? I’m 100% sure if PT felt something was off, he would’ve stopped.

I was standing on Ascot Heath for the Clarence House Chase in January when a tired Il Etait Temps and Paul Townend fell right in front of me at the second last. When horses fall I always look for them to get back on their feet quickly and I am always looking for them to continue with the herd and to check that they are sound. Il Etait Temps did not get up quickly. In fact he stayed down for a considerable amount of time. His jockey, Mr Townend stayed with him. The dreaded screens went up and they stayed up for a good 10 minutes. The horse ambulance arrived and the Ascot veterinary team were heavily present. Paul Townend remained with his horse showing considerable care. The longer the situation went on the more I feared the worse for the horse. I thought back to the Cyrname incident at Ascot which gave me some reassurance but I’d begun to give up hope.
Paul Townend eventually emerged from behind the screen and I shouted to him asking if his horse was alright. He gave me the thumbs up and he got into a car to take him back to the weighing room. Seconds later the screens came down and Il Etait Temps walked soundly into the horse ambulance. Such a relieve. This horse went on to be a fantastic winner of this year’s Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival a couple of months later.
I cannot possibly believe that Paul Townend would knowingly ride out a horse that he knew was injured. It beggars belief to think that anyone would believe that. That day at Ascot his prime concern was for the welfare and wellbeing of his horse and I find it inconceivable that that behaviour would not be a constant in his character and be the same for every horse that he rides.

@WillieMullinsNH @PTownend @patcashhealy Awesome from jockey and horse I backed him thought he was beaten but Paul nos where the winning line is great ride well done
English

What an incredible day for our team 🐎🏆
Pure heart, pure courage, and a performance to remember at Aintree. Huge credit to Team Closutton, the McManus family, and a brilliant, classy ride from @PTownend 👏
Still taking it all in… what a moment.

English

@WillieMullinsNH @PTownend @patcashhealy Yes,Gold Dancer showed all of those attributes and more for both his jockey and you on Friday.
Oh hang on though...you ain't talking about him are you. Silly me.
English

@William99754232 @tonymullins84 The reason was so obvious to everyone watching...in fact the only oblivious one was the one sitting on his horse. Pyrrhic victory indeed.
English

@tonymullins84 If he'd pulled up that horse on the run in for no obvious reason and there wasn't an obvious reason the words, Fix and Stitch-up would have been plastered all over the place.
English

@berconn @tonymullins84 Does that mean pain from the whip is not felt immediately either? Because Gold Dancer certainly felt the strikes of Townends whip...he stopped trying to pull himself up and continued on.
English

@tonymullins84 Well said ,many ignorant key board warriors, adrenaline carries injured people and horses on, pain not immediately felt.
English

@tonymullins84 No comparison whatsoever.Probably couldn't go back without his saddle and had to wait until Il Etait Temps got up before he could retrieve it. Why the long wait? He'd ridden his horse to exhaustion. That's why he fell and thats why he was down for so long.
English

@matrixgho5t @mjyharris What else did he carry on for then? A nice photo of Gold Dancer for his mantelpiece? A kiss from Alice? If your IQ is so superior then you can enlighten us to Townends reasons for finishing the race.
English

@mjyharris Thank god, someone with some sense. The amount of complete nonsense I’ve read over the last few days from people with zero clue. The funniest being “he rode it home for the £67k prize” 🤣🤣🤣 IQ non existent.
English

@ClaireDunkley4 @mjyharris If adrenaline is the painkiller that everyone says it is then why use a whip? Wouldn't the adrenaline mask the effects of that too? Gold Dancer could certainly feel it on Friday as he ran on after being smacked. I'm not anti whip, its needed for safety so my question is genuine.
English

@mjyharris Absolutely Michael. And those suggesting he would have known immediately clearly have never ridden a horse at speed, full of adrenaline. It's easy to be an armchair expert though.
English

@PhilRichards01 @mjyharris We love NH and really do want it to continue, but we also want openness, honesty and fairness...and most importantly for the welfare of the horses to come first. None of those things happened in that race on Friday and saying so does not make us anti's. Far from it.
English

@mjyharris Well said, Michael. I've been disgusted by some of the things I've read on here over the last 48 hours, and from people who apparently love the sport. Who needs the anti-racing mob when you have these people within the ranks?
English

@mjyharris The severity of GDs mistake, how low they both were to the ground, the effort it took GD to get up...a jockey of his experience would have known. He said he "couldn't feel anything wrong" but he felt enough to know that GD was stopping,so he hit him to make him go on. Sickening.
English

@RacingMikey96 He didn't dismount straightaway at all though,he had to be told to

@BHAHorseracing The biggest load of BS I've ever heard in my life. Never seen an uninjured 3 mile chaser finish with an action like that either. By the way,Townend didn't jump off straight away when he felt his horse struggling to walk,he took his feet out of the stirrups and just sat there.
