@michaelbolton When quality has not been built into the product, it is easy for an incompetent tester to fall victim to the Drunning-Krunner effect. There are so much bugs in the product that he has a feeling of flow and mastery. He is still at the unconscious incompetence stage.

There's a reason that many people think testing is easy, due to an asymmetry. No one ever fired up a computer and stumbled into creating a slick UI or a sophisticated algorithm, but people stumble into bugs every day. Finding bugs is easy, they think. so testing must be easy.
