@BDPeacock That being said I do think that there is more latitude to find that outlier in the later rounds. It just seems like poor allocation of assets to try to find it in rds 1-3.
English

@BDPeacock I need more information. Just because you value a player higher or lower doesn’t necessarily make you or the board right. What is the percentage of hits when you reach vs the consensus. If your whole draft philosophy revolves around finding outliers I think that’s bad process.
English

@Mauerback @grantcohn That sounds weird. it’s not that I think that, it’s what the current grades say. Obviously we will see if that hold up.
English

@Mauerback @grantcohn I think Washington had one of the best drafts by value this yr for what it’s worth. They also have been on the rise since Peter’s got there. Of course that is skewed because they got Daniel’s. Could be that those late rd hits for SF were Peter’s?
English

@B_Tek3 @HarryBerezin To be fair mcglinchy isn’t a bust in the sense that they got 5 yrs of production, but he was a top 10 pick. I don’t think you draft a guy there without thinking he will be around for a 2nd contract.
English

@HarryBerezin McGlincy is a good example, the 49ers exercised his 5th year option, they were already paying the highest paid tackle in the league & could not afford to keep him at market value, which was 88M, he walked & 3rd rd comp pick was returned, but guys like Larry will call him a bust…
English

@TheJuiceTDGuy The wild thing about this quote is by definition they do the opposite. Letting the draft come to you would be taking Stribling at 58 or taking black in the 4th or 5th if at all. The fact they think this is very telling.
English

In leadership we call “letting the draft come to you” passivity, instead of having an aggressive plan and attacking the draft.
San Francisco 49ers@49ers
"You let the Draft come to you, you do some moving around. Most of all we end up with players that we believe are Niners." John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan talk about the 2026 Draft.
English

"Chase, you're such a 49ers hater."
Wrong. I've been very complimentary of the 49ers. The coaching, the success, the history. But the Niners are not without their faults.
What makes the 49ers so frustrating, is that their level of coaching covers up the draft misses.
Can you imagine how good the 49ers would be if they drafted better and actually prioritized the offensive line?
They would be a WAGON!
I'm not going to cover the 49ers with knee pads. Positivity and praise when justified, keep it real and honest when it's the other way.
Every data point points to too many draft misses and reaches. They're draft process is flawed.
#49ers

@akashanav This is true but we have seen seasons where the older elite players aren’t available. If they can’t show the ability to replace those guys there will be really lean years in the future.
English

@TheJuiceTDGuy How “they know more than you” crowd doesn’t get this is a total mystery.
English

@fatfatleon @dieter This is the age old question. Hard to say without being in the building right?? How engaged could Kyle possibly be on late rd picks?? One would think the scouts would handle a lot of that?? Do they make recommendations and Kyle looks at those as decides??
English

@9er4Life33 @timkawakami What I’m actually advocating is getting Kyle a real GM. Also your original question the answer is 7. 2 of which are Doug Peterson and Nick siriani who can’t hold Kyle’s jock. If the bar is being better than a bunch of shit teams then we just disagree what success looks like.
English

@cboom12 @timkawakami How many active HCs have won a Super Bowl genius?
English

Lol, I think they were exactly something very similar last night.
They also... err... have made it to 2 Super Bowls and went 12-5 last year.
HOW DARE THEY! I DEMAND ANSWERS FOR THIS.
You guys are... furious at all times. You should make the tackle then.
Miguel Chapeton@ProFootballPSI
@timkawakami How about try holding them accountable and ask the tough Q. "You have a ten year history of significantly reaching for players above consensus with little success. You've done it again with Stribling and Black, why is this time different and have you learned from past mistakes?"
English

@9er4Life33 @timkawakami What difference does it make. I’m not advocating for firing Kyle. Had Tim not blocked me I would have clarified that point. 2 pts. 1 Kyle is one of the best coaches in football. He elevates the roster no question. 2 they consistently draft poorly.
English

@padaddlel @49ersfan012 @timkawakami You’re right, that was actually my bad. I should have verified when it was worse than I thought. They were actually 15.
English

@cboom12 @49ersfan012 @timkawakami This is a prior season prediction. When the actual season happened their schedule was middle of the pack.
English

@49ersfan012 @timkawakami Like I said. Also playing 9 playoff team, and losing to 5 of them including getting totally dominated and embarrassed by your division rival ain’t it.

English

@cboom12 @timkawakami The schedule was way tougher than it was initially thought. Stop acting like it was a cupcake schedule. They played 9 playoff teams and 3 more that barely missed the playoffs. They also had massive amounts of injuries
English

@AlSacco49 @TheJuiceTDGuy How this is even a controversial take at this point is mind blowing.
English

@timkawakami Tim just blocked me for this. Softest block ever. What a pussy.
English
Chris Carey retweetledi

@timkawakami Tim why do you defend them. They haven’t won shit. They repeatedly draft poorly. They went 12-5 against a terrible schedule and got absolutely curb stomped by a Div rival in the playoffs. They aren’t close and are acting like THEY just won the SB.
