@jacksettleman The NFL has a set criteria for how you get in the playoffs. It’s based on your record, either you win your division(conference) or have enough wins to qualify for a wild card. If the rams missed the playoffs by a game we’d point to that Panthers loss.

Everyone is obsessed with the Florida loss. Why don't we overreact to the Rams losing to the Panthers in the NFL? Because you play quality throughout the NFL season. When you play 5 top 15 teams throughout a CFB season, it requires a level of focus and play that is extremely difficult to maintain. Indiana almost slipped up at Penn State. UGA almost slipped up versus Florida. Miami slipped up 2x. No one else in the country (besides Oklahoma) played as grueling of a schedule as Texas. I mean Ohio State and Indiana's schedules are a JOKE. A&M's schedule was a JOKE. Additional note - Texas played against Florida without their best defensive player.

@ClayTravis Conferences are way too big, and as going to show up as an issue at some point. Look at TAMU’s conference schedule, would they be a playoff team if they played Alabamas?

We are one half away from Virginia vs Duke, yes, 7-5 Duke, for the ACC’s automatic playoff bid. Ridiculous. Just do away with auto bids and conference “title” games. Miami was the best team in the ACC this year, should be the playoff pick.

@ChrisGordy Playing Ohio State is like playing a 9th conference game like everyone else. They also played San Jose St, UTEP and Sam Houston St out of conference. So if instead of At OSU they would’ve had to play at Ole Miss/Bama/Tenn would you still be crying they should be in?

To all the folks jumping to “but you lost to Florida”: If Texas had scheduled & beat up on Rice in Wk1 instead of playing AT OHIO STATE, they’d be in the playoff right now WITH that loss to Florida. They have 3 Top 10 wins, better than many teams up top have on their resume. Texas should be considered. Or we will lose all tough non-con Week 1 matchups. Why even schedule them. Schedule more cupcakes.

My gut feel after watching the NFL through 11 weeks is that we’re returning to 30 years ago. Having the best QB this year doesn’t matter at all. The best teams in the league all have the best defenses. Eagles, Broncos, Seahawks, Rams. We may see a Super Bowl with non traditional/crappy QBs. Also, the Texans are team no one wants to play in the postseason.

@TheHerdBros What if they had 5 big conferences separated by region; the top 5 conference champions automatically in(if you had a Cincy or Boise situation they’d be a top 5 conference champion) and then 3 at larges.

Realistic 24-team format: 6 SEC teams 6 B1G teams 3 Big 12 teams 3 ACC teams 6 G6 champions I’m not sure how anyone would have a problem with this.
