I wrote a gazillion versions of "How Judas Died" before it became this version published in @Gulf_Coast. Normally it's pretty easy for me to abandon poems that aren't working, but this one just kept haunting me with what it could be.

Saw a vacancy sign on a beautiful historic brick building in Cap Hill & spur of the moment called the number. They let me in to look at the unit. It was so beautiful I started crying.

@GabrielleBates I didn't even know that was a thing! You would think that if anything, nonfiction might pay more because of the fact-checking involved. Maybe it has to do with sales? I am perplexed.

Lol when a journal has a literary prize where certain genres make more money than others. Like, I get the argument for paying more for prose than poetry (sort of...), but paying more for fiction than nonfic?? Why?
