The same way we scoff at how lead and asbestos and radium was in everything in the early 20th century and was slowly poisoning people. “Those stupid people, didn’t they see the danger? How could they miss what’s right in front of them? Good thing we’re more advanced than them now.” This is a Wild West of neglect of our children via the internet. Children having unlimited access to screen time through iPads since the time they’re babies, and then iPhones with SIM cards by the time they’re six. It’s not only burning out their brain’s dopamine sensors early in their developed, but also exposes them to online pornography, sexual predators, toxic beauty standards for their own bodies, and now these financial scams specifically targeting children. This industry can ONLY happen because parents don’t care that their young children can access social media. When are we going to wake up? There should be zero children on the internet. Period. Parents who allow their young children to have phones and unrestricted access to the internet are neglecting them and we should stop pretending it’s anything else.

I am a huge fan of Law&Crime and @jessecordweber, I’ve been watching weekly for years. But I just discovered that seven months ago, Law&Crime took a sponsorship from Opus. If Law&Crime does not revise their public stance on generative AI, then sadly I am permanently unsubscribing. How can a journalism channel that cares about seeking justice for the common people choose to take this sponsorship and ignore the damage that AI (an industry backed and unregulated by the same politicians who are not prosecuting powerful pedophiles, an issue important on the channel) is causing to everyday neighborhoods, homeowners with rising utility bills, artists, writers, reading comprehension and media literacy in students, and the environment?
