@Keir_Starmer Same old arguments we have been hearing since the 1800s while the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. No one should be born a millionaire while others are born with no safe place to live. Tax wealth and support those who need it. Welfare is not an incentive to laziness!

Under the Tories, the welfare bill went up by £88 billion. They left children too poor to eat. They wrote young people off as too ill to work. That costs the country money and is bad for productivity. And it's a massive waste of potential. This is a moral mission. We need to reform the welfare state, and remove all the incentives which hold back the potential of young people. That’s what my government is doing.

@SteveChalke Children are in school 6 to 7 hours a day. Let's say another hour getting ready and travelling to and from school. That's 1/3rd. Another 1/3 as a minimum is spent sleeping. That leaves only 1/3 of their time with family and friends 5 days a week. This should not involve homework.

Education is about much more than school. A child is in school for under 20% of their time. So what we really need is an overarching, joined-up, inclusive, child-first vision. And then a long-term thoughtful plan to implement it.

When a child has experienced trauma, their behaviour isn’t a moral failing, it’s communication. The anger you see? That’s pain. The defiance? That’s fear. And the silence? That’s a survival strategy. None of this is about excusing bad behaviour. It’s about understanding it!

@LexieLovesBooks @gerrydiamond71 @teamsquarepeg I dont mean included in the taught session. I mean included as a human being in their regulation. A quiet space but with an adult with them who can help them process or express what is happening for them. It's the isolation booths I have issue with.

@ccooper1309 @gerrydiamond71 @teamsquarepeg Quiet spaces work well. Opposite of isolation booths, they're comfortable, encouraging, and allow the child a safe space. The child can regulate then return to class. Which should be the aim. Inclusion at all costs is not inclusion.

@Keir_Starmer Caught? He offered himself up 5 times. He was asking to go home. He was sent to a local train station and did as he was told. He needs to be brought back in and deported for sure but stop talking as though he is some escaped criminal mastermind.

The mistaken release at HMP Chelmsford is totally unacceptable. I am appalled that it has happened and it’s being investigated. The police are working urgently to track him down, and my government is supporting them. This man must be caught and deported for his crimes.

Trauma survivors rarely say, “I need help.” They say: “I’ll figure it out.” “It’s fine.” “I’ve handled worse.” They become their own safety net. Because life taught them that depending on others isn’t safe.

@lilacshortskrt @nate_postlethwt Exactly that. Not forgiveness as in its OK that he did that or that I feel there was a reason that justifies it. That could never be true. I just wont waste anymore time or energy on him. I'm free (mostly).

@ccooper1309 @nate_postlethwt what you described—a conscious choice to not let them take up all that emotional energy anymore and let yourself move past it. You're not letting them off the hook, but you're no longer seeking closure from them. That's my impression at least 😅

Telling a traumatized person they must forgive in order to heal is attaching them back to their abuser, re-creating a vulnerable dependency out of their control. Forgiveness is not a tool to heal trauma. Trauma work is a tool to heal trauma.

@nate_postlethwt It was a conscious move from what was it about me that made them do this, to what was it about them that made them do this, to moving beyond it. I'm not even sure that is forgiveness, I just dont want to spend my life hating them either.

@nate_postlethwt For me forgiveness was not really about forgiveness. It was about understanding that the problem was in them not me. And also about taking back the power, a conscious decision not to let them have any more of me. I didn't tell them I forgave them. I just decided it was over.

You are not bad or wrong for wanting to burn the whole f*cking world down, especially when your "fight" trauma response is triggered. Lots of people probably have no idea how heroically restrained you've actually been this whole time. Respect.

@Keir_Starmer We are worried about the shambolic leadership of thos country and the fat cats hoarding wealth while our children starve. And now we are also worried about intrusive monitoring of citizens for no discernable benefit.

I know you're worried about the level of illegal migration into this country. Digital ID is another measure to make it tougher to work illegally here, making our borders more secure. Ours is a fairer Britain, built on change, not division.
