After reading J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, our sixth grade students held their annual Hobbit Banquet! Each student dressed as a character and gave a speech about their experiences in the story while they enjoyed food and drink!

As a part of their unit study covering the 1920s, our sixth graders took a few minutes yesterday to take a stab at The Charleston under the capable direction of their teacher, Erica Ballard. Well done, sixth grade!

Each Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning we gather together as a school community for Morning Gathering. During MoGa we review classroom activities, pray, do our Scripture memory and sing. This morning, Mrs. Fields was joined by 4th grade drummers for The Covenant School Song!

Covenant's Above & Beyond program is an enrichment program for students in our early childhood classes. On Friday afternoon, our students learned about the flower Alstroemeria and its many colors. They completed their lesson by watercoloring from cut flowers.

Yesterday, our Little Pelicans (PK3) engaged both their bodies and their minds as they re-enacted the 19th-century fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

In support of their study of World War I and St. Louis’ role in it, our sixth grade spent time at the newly remodeled Soldiers Memorial. While learning about the war they also learned about Art Deco architecture and the meaningful details found in the Memorial’s design.

Beautiful artwork by alum Hannah Grace highlighting our school's mission and vision now graces our hallways! Frames were constructed by former parent Jacob Mohler from wood from the garage that stood where our Outdoor Learning Lab now stands. A big thanks to both of you!

Sixth grade built WWI trenches using the furniture in their room. They learned to strategize, work as a team, and design a trench. A student was awarded an Iron Cross for "sacrificing his life" and another was given a medal for injuries during action. It was quite a day!

Our awesome sixth grade was at Queeny Park yesterday as a part of their unit on World War I. They were orienteering in order to understand what it was like to be a soldier during the war. They used a compass and map to cross rugged territory.

Teacher Erica Ballard is in Costa Rica this week. She is learning to think more holistically about ecosystems and the value of being still and observant. Through this experience, she will be better prepared to teach her students to be still, observe and delight in God's creation.

On Thursday, second grade spent the day along the Mississippi River studying eagles, swans and... pelicans(!). They had received training in the use of binoculars during their Outdoor Skills and Games class. It was estimated that they saw between 75 and 100 eagles!
