NBA Play #2 for 11/29: Trae Young O 2.5 3PM, -120 on most books 🔥 This line makes NO SENSE. Young just played against the Cavaliers where he took 13 three point attempts, shooting 4 for 13 from beyond the arc. The Cavs are allowing the 10th most above the break 3PA to guards this season, as well as allowing the SECOND most 3PM to opposing PGs. Trae LOVES to shoot above the break 3’s, ranking inside of the top-15 in the NBA in attempts on these shots with 7.3 attempts per game. Trae is due for some positive regression here, as he’s shooting 31% on above the break 3’s whereas he shot 37.3% on similar volume last season. Trae has hit the over on this line in 3/4 matchups against Cleveland since the beginning of last season, and in his first two NBA Cup games he displayed more of a tendency to shoot the three, taking 8 and 9 3PA. When taking 8 or more 3PA since the beginning of last season, Trae has gone over in 34/47 games (70% hit rate) including going over in 9/11 games this year. When adjusting this to 10+ attempts, he’s hit in 21/26 games (81% hit rate), and he JUST took 13 threes against the Cavs on Wednesday. Brunson has a FANTASTIC matchup tomorrow against the Hornets, as Charlotte is allowing the FOURTH most points to PGs, as well as the MOST rebounds and the 8th most assists. Brunson had 47 PRA last game in one of his highest scoring performances on the season, and with his recent success in distributing the ball he has gone over this line in 7/L10 games, averaging 39.3 PRA over this stretch. With tomorrow’s spot being an NBA Cup game, I’m expecting Brunson to see high usage and be aggressive against a weak Hornets defense. Brunson should see plenty of minutes in this one as he played 34 & 35 minutes in the Knicks’ previous tournament games, and while there is blowout potential for this one I’m comfortable going with Brunson as he will be extremely efficient against Charlotte’s defense.
