4/n Additionally, we provided the first formal description of #Fusarium goeppertmayerae, since the original authors had not included one. Two more species remain undescribed due to poor morphological development in culture. 🤔 @mycokeys @Fabiteam1 @mycobiomics

3/n We formally described them as: 🔬 Fusarium cumulatum (Equiseti clade) – named for its abundant chlamydospore formation 🌿 Fusarium pascuum (Camptoceras clade) – from Latin pascuum (pasture) 🧪Fusarium mariecurieae – honoring Marie Curie & @MSCActions support @MycoKeys

2/n We surveyed fungal diversity in mixed pastures on Eastern Cape 🐄 farms 🇿🇦 & isolated 155 #Fusarium strains from the Fusarium incarnatum-equiseti species complex. Using single & multigene phylogenies (TEF, CaM, RPB2), we identified 11 #Fusarium species, 3 of which are novel!
