Would the penguin lovers amongst you like a little video of penguins jumping on and off an ice floe ? I’m sorry for laughing at the collision at 16 seconds !!! (Not really - still chuckling 😂)

Returning via Ushuaia billed as the world’s southern most city & the “End of the World” & on the Tierra del Fuego peninsula. It has a good view of the end of the Andes ! It’s a 4 hour flight back to Buenos Aires where we went to a nature reserve & saw a venomous pit viper !

Last Antarctic stop on the way to the Drake Passage saw a total change of scenery at the volcanic Deception Island! Walked around crater rims & the steaming beach area with the old whaling station & British Research hut destroyed by the last earthquake. Plus a young elephant seal

In a trip full of superlatives our last day on the Antarctic Peninsula was outstanding.Great weather & landscapes, a continental landing at Portal Point, & a phenomenal number of active humpback whales with some so close that we got amazing pictures of their whole length. Superb!

Visiting Cuverville Island saw really amusing scenes with gentoo penguins jumping on & off ice floes, plus our first sightings of chinstrap penguins & fur seals, & more whales (one breaching) & weddell seals. Plus huge icebergs run aground in an iceberg graveyard ! Incredible !

Yesterday we went to a narrow glacier channel called The Gullet. It isknown for orcas/killer whales pods.Once in the zodiac we encountered a leopard seal (they eat penguins and other seals) that had a pop at the zodiacs and also a weddell seal as well as more fantastic seascapes

Also on Petermann Island is a cross commemorating the loss of three British Antarctic researchers who attempted to walk across the frozen sea ice to the neighbouring research station but were never seen again.

Yesterday we headed north with more amazing vistas and ice floes with resting seals, before arriving at Petermann Island with thousands of gentoo penguins and a visiting leopard seal.We also saw a humpback whale fully breach out of the water last night which was a real spectacle

Extraordinary day over 200 miles inside the Antarctic Circle.Sailed through the night in pack ice and then reached a position of 69 degrees 50 minutes south where we were stopped by huge sea ice floes. We then did a sea ice landing where we were joined by curious Emperor penguins!
