#OnThisDay in #baseballhistory the records of Negro Leagues baseball players were officially incorporated into the Major League record books. The long-awaited move came after an MLB announcement in December of 2020, and finally gave Major League status to numerous Negro Leagues players. The only Canadian to become a Major Leaguer via this process was CBHFM Class of 2021 inductee Jimmy Claxton (Wellington, BC), who played in the East-West League in 1932. He was also the first black player to appear on an American-made baseball card (pictured), when he made his pitching debut with the Oakland Oaks of the Pacific Coast League on May 28, 1916. 108 years and one day later, he was officially a Major Leaguer. @NLBMuseumKC @baseballhall #OTD #canadianbaseball #negroleaguebaseball

Today’s #FridayFeature is the baseball cap which was worn by Jonah Tong (Markham, ON) with the AA Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the New York Mets system. Tong was called up to AAA Syracuse in August of 2025, where he made just 2 starts before heading up to the big team. He made his MLB debut on August 29, 2025. His Rumble Ponies cap, along with the rosin bag he used in his MLB debut are both on display at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum this summer. #canadianbaseball #baseballhistory #mlbdebut @SyracuseMets @Mets @baseballcanada @BaseballOntario @tong_jonah @RumblePoniesBB

#OnThisDay in #baseballhistory the @BlueJays played their last game at Exhibition Stadium. They faced the White Sox, the same team they had played in their inaugural game in 1977, with Toronto winning 7-5. In our collection at the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum we have a base from that game autographed by Kelly Gruber who doubled in the 10th when the game was tied 5-5, and became the winning run on the next at bat with a walk-off homerun courtesy of George Bell. On June 5 the Blue Jays debuted in their new home: SkyDome. #OTD #canadianbaseball #skydome

#OTD Seven years ago, Josh Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) made his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. Batting sixth and DHing, he went 0-for-4, but the Padres beat the Jays 6-3. P.S. Naylor got three hits in his second game.
