Which of the following facts about Kenya’s National Anthem did you know?; 🇰🇪 it was collectively composed in 1963 by a team of 5. 🇰🇪it is based on a traditional tune sung by Pokomo mothers to their children; 🇰🇪the original word Udugu meaning bond, as the fulcrum on which the anthem should revolve, was replaced with Undugu which means brotherhood; 🇰🇪works on the Swahili and English version were independent but concurrent- the English version is thus not a translation of the Swahili one; 🇰🇪 two other anthems had been composed, and presented to a team led by then President Jomo Kenyatta who then voted unanimously for the current anthem; We were honored to have Prof. Washington Omondi, the only surviving member from the team of composers, join us at PDF 2024 where he delivered a keynote address. #PDFestival2024 #FormNiDialogue

CECEI recently conducted a survey, focusing on gender disparities and the barriers to civic engagement within our communities. The figure below represents the gender of the participants who voluntarily engaged in the study at a local university in Kenya.
