iQiyi saw the hype after the release of the official trailer, and then they suddenly wanted it to be streamed on their platform lol should have stayed on YouTube to reach more casual viewers, a total letdown on this sudden decision 😕

A contract is not the same as selling the rights, they don't sell the rights to any of their series. What iQIYI holds is a distribution license, meaning they paid for the right to stream the content, nothing more. On top of that, this wasn't a new deal that came out of nowhere, the contract was already signed and running. Leaving mid-contract carries financial penalties, so finishing it out was simply the smarter business move. iQIYI just took advantage of the timing and the hype to swoop in and claim exclusivity over YouTube. And honestly? We're getting it on YouTube anyway
