Racism started all of this but all of a sudden it's not about race. A administration that is 99 percent white has convinced people that diversity is wrong and a all white administration isn't!

Like I said, it’s time to examine the distribution of sales tax revenue. Greg Abbott is a tyrant who thinks he, and he alone, holds the power to withhold money from cities and their citizens. Money that came from OUR sales tax revenue. End Abbott’s reign. Restore local control. Vote blue.
Jennie Taer@JennieSTaer

EXCLUSIVE: Texas Gov @GregAbbott_TX tells @realDailyWire that if Houston doesn’t reverse a new sanctuary policy, the city could lose $40 million a month in tax rebates from the state in addition to the $110 million in state public safety grants. It may be Houston’s “largest source of revenue,” Abbott said. “It’s like you getting a paycheck … on a monthly basis to be able to pay your bills. The city of Houston is going to not get a paycheck of about $40 million a month where they’re not going to be able to pay their bills,” Abbott said. “So this truly is a crisis, a financial crisis, the city of Houston is going through. And it’s not a crisis made by the state of Texas. It’s a crisis made by their leftist agenda insisting they’ll pay whatever the consequences in order for them to have sanctuary cities,” he said.

The ISD take overs by Abbott & the SBOE are corrupt. They’re racially targeting districts and handing them over to their buddies to make money off them. What a scam.

#ICYMI: The Texas Observer discovered Houston's state-appointed superintendent was moonlighting as a paid consultant for Third Future School, the charter school network he founded. He canceled the potentially illegal contract when we asked about it. texasobserver.org/mike-miles-moo…

Dan Patrick called John Whitmire “his favorite Democrat” and said that he is “practically a Republican.” We could’ve avoided this if people paid even 10% of the attention that poli-nerds do. Houston is diverse, fun, quirky, and has astronomically underrated food and art scenes, on top of being the medical capital of the United States. We are good people. Prideful people. And I can assure you that we aren’t here for the weather. This metro area deserves better. And, while I don’t live in the city limits so can’t personally cast my vote for change, I do work there and will make sure I use whatever growing influence I have to make Whitmire a one term mayor. What an abject disappointment he’s been.
Jeff Syptak@JeffSyptak

“Of course, that would require someone who learned how to be a politician in the House rather than the Senate. But more than that, it would take leadership.” Whitmire promised to avoid Austin’s fights. Instead, he imported them | Opinion houstonchronicle.com/opinion/outloo…

Like I said earlier this week: if Houston had a truly independent City Attorney, that office would be patterning with Austin to sue the state right now.

Following up on my H-E-B post — the one calling out their Pride sponsorships, drag events for families, halal meat partnerships, H-1B visas over American workers, and split political donations that undermine conservative Texas priorities… Buc-ee’s is the straight-up ANTI-HEB. The roadside king that actually lives Texas values without the corporate double-speak. Here’s the head-to-head: ✅ No Pride/drag/family marketing — Zero corporate sponsorships, no rainbow collections, no pushing social agendas. Just brisket, kolaches, and clean bathrooms. ✅ No halal meat push — They don’t have big dedicated halal lines or marketing deals sidelining Texas classics like smoked sausage and jerky. ✅ No H-1B visas — They hire locally, pay well above minimum wage, and keep it America-first with E-Verify. No replacing Texans with foreign specialty hires. ✅ Political donations — Owners pour serious money into Texas Republicans (Abbott, Patrick, Paxton, etc.). No “both-sides” game or funding against school choice and core conservative fights. Privately held. Texas-born. Obsessed with “clean, friendly, and in stock.” High wages, real hospitality, and unapologetic state pride. If H-E-B feels like it’s eroding what we stand for, Buc-ee’s is proof a Texas giant can scale huge while staying true. Time to redirect those dollars, Texans. Next road trip? Pull into Buc-ee’s. Support what actually represents us. Who else is done with corporate betrayal and all-in on the beaver? Drop your Buc-ee’s stories below 👇 #TexasValues #BucEes #SupportTexas #AmericaFirst #BuyTexas

Umm… Houston DIDN’T defund the police. They simply clarified what is the city’s responsibility and what is the responsibility of the (very well funded) federal immigration agency. Greg Abbott defunded the police. The facts here are pretty clear.
Eduardo Leal@EddLeal29

This editorial is completely off base. Gov. Abbott passed the strongest bail reform measures in Texas history and a law that prohibits cities from defunding the police. That's why Greg Abbott is the law and order Governor. The City Council is already working on repealing this disastrous ordinance that was brought by a handful of radical, progressive council members.

Governor Abbott’s threat to strip $110 million in public safety funding from Houston is an attempt to bully our city for doing what is right, what is legal, and what upholds the Constitution. The premise that Houston must either repeal this ordinance or lose funding is a false choice designed to force compliance through fear. Those are not the only options. Houston has a clear legal path forward. I sent a letter to urge the Mayor and the City Attorney to immediately file a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) to prevent the State from withdrawing funds and seek a declaratory judgment affirming that this ordinance is lawful. If we act now and file, the court will issue an opinion as early as today, providing City Council with critical guidance before any rushed decision is made regarding repeal. There is no funding that will be put at risk by seeking this emergency relief ahead of the State’s April 20th deadline. Houstonians deserve a city that will stand up for them, defend its laws, and protect its residents. I respectfully urge the Mayor to take immediate legal action.

Governor Abbott is wrong on the law, and this ordinance is legal. Senate Bill 4 and the Governor cannot trump the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution. We should not give into this unlawful intimidation. I stand ready to work with Mayor Whitmire and City Council to defend the city’s laws and protect Houston residents.
