Doctors, charities and experts have written an open letter to the Health Secretary Wes Streeting, warning of a “catastrophic” rise in deaths caused by drinking. The Alcohol Health Alliance is calling for urgent government action to stop what they say is an “alarming trend.” Deaths related to alcohol have risen by 42% in England since 2019. @JamesGooderson reports.
