@MirrorsPhantom “I-It’s okay, Moonie…! Mhm, mhm! We’re safe! We don’t talk like that, m’kay? No no no, we’re well fed and happy here! Everything is super duper!” “. . . ‘Kay.” While not entirely settled down, Lua at least wasn’t shaking like a leaf in a thunderstorm. —

Sol sat before a blank mirror within the familiar halls. His back straight and at attention, pale blue eyes staring blankly at his reflection. He’s waiting for ( * Him. ) Behind him resting at his back is Lua who similarly stares ahead at another mirror, gaze just as bleak.

@MirrorsPhantom Their breathing became short and stilted the longer Ticket Taker spoke. It was too much, far too much. A pained growl echos deep in their chest before they sharply turn their head to the side, claws digging into their sleeve. “. . . Understood, sir.”

@celestiaIdear “If he breaks a bone or two because you became careless then his suffering is a result of your carelessness. Am I understood?”

Coming up to the bottom of @celestiaIdear tent, gaze fixed upon the closed tarp before turning his head upwards. “Lua,” He calls out, voice quiet but firm. “I have to speak with you.”

@MirrorsPhantom sharp teeth grit so tightly that they could shatter at any second. “If I drop Sol during our show or I slip even once… You will be hurt next, Bil.”

@MirrorsPhantom They stare at him for a while longer. Fingers grip anxiously at the ribbons tied around their wrists, feeling over the satin to soothe their worries to no avail. It isn’t fair. ( * It isn’t fair. ) A step forward is taken, hands shaking as they yank at red ribbons, —

@MirrorsPhantom “All night long?” They ask quietly. “Trapeze and acrobatics are tiring. Can get sloppy if too tired. Drop Sol.” They look down at Bil, frowning. “Don’t wanna hurt him.”

@MirrorsPhantom “. . . Sol doesn’t like the dark.” They turn around to face the tent where he slept peacefully. Playing security guard wasn’t an issue and it was less so if it meant Sol wouldn’t have to be alone at night but there was still a drawback. —

@MirrorsPhantom They follow his gloved hand and listen carefully. It was quiet enough. There ( * had ) been a couple of break ins but nothing that the troupe members couldn’t handle. Lua looks back at him. “Not Doctor or Pierrot?”

@celestiaIdear “Yes, at night.” He gestures around the circus grounds and out into where society laid behind fences. “We’ve been experiencing some trouble at night and are in need of security. A human won’t do, nor a fool, so I decided you would be a better fit out of the two of you.”

@MirrorsPhantom “New … Job?” Their head tilts, hat bouncing in time with them to the side. “During nighttime?”

@celestiaIdear Deep breathes. “I have a new job for you in addition to your daytime activities. These are seperate but no less important.”

@MirrorsPhantom “Blah blah blah blah.” While not the tallest out of the troupe Lua would still tower over Ticket Taker. And yet… They slouched in on themselves, defensive despite the clear size difference. Anxiety nestled deep in his chest that clashed with distrust.

@celestiaIdear The scowl is flipped back into a smile, albeit one forced with cheer. “Not so difficult now was it? Life is much more simple if you listen the first time.” His arms fold behind his back, dignified as any self respecting gentleman would despite wanting to throttle them.

@MirrorsPhantom They growled lowly as the walls began closing in around them. Ticket Taker never would play fair and always went for such low hanging fruit… “Bad sportsmanship…” Lua grumbles as they hop down, landing in a beastial crouch with their arms hung between their long legs.

@celestiaIdear Such a pale imitation of Eclipse. He didn’t even get any satisfaction of outsmarting them. No matter. He has what he wants now. “Come down here and I’ll tell you, Lua. It really is as easy as that.”

@MirrorsPhantom Now this has their attention. Lua nearly falls off the edge of the tent in his race to get to see Ticket Taker clearly, panic beginning to form. “Sol? Dark?” In the blink of an eye they’re anxious for their lover, clutching at the tent. “Tell me!”

@celestiaIdear Dangle something just out of reach and entice them until they come crawling for it. “Very well,” A faux sigh. “I’ll give this position to Sol, then. I doubt he’ll be happy to hear it since he doesn’t like the dark. Such a shame.”

@MirrorsPhantom “Nuh uh.” A finger wag given in the general direction of his voice. “Bad words. So impolite. Not gentlemanly.”

@celestiaIdear The last of his patience was wearing quicker than usual. His ever present smile sharply plummets into a scowl, blue and white pupils glowing as he glares up at Lua. “So help me, you cretin, I will drag you down there by your ribbons and hang you with it-!”
