Why is Variety doing PR damage control for a YouTuber????

he calls himself “the internet’s busiest music nerd” yet all he does is sit behind a camera and listen to music… he doesn’t write songs, produce, mix, master, or compose melodies. he puts himself as this “ultimate authority” on music, but he hasn’t put in the work to understand what it takes to actually be an artist or even work alongside one. one of the biggest problems is that he presents his opinions as if they carry more weight than everyone else’s. they don’t. music is very subjective. a halsey album he dismisses could easily be a 10/10 experience for someone else. because guess what, that’s exactly how art works, but ur still dragging this on. this is the same guy who has handed out ratings that many people would consider wildly inconsistent, like sexy red, yet still expects the public to treat every score as gospel because he branded himself a “professional music critic.” being a professional critic doesn’t automatically make your opinions objective, it just means you’ve built a platform around sharing them which is a lackluster of a talent… ur giving sexy red an 8 while handing out LUX, MAYHEM, HMHAS, Vie, Virgin, Eternal Sunshine, MBF, and Addison wayyyy lower ratings. what makes this whole situation even worse is how long he’s dragged out this unnecessary feud with Halsey. At this point, it’s becoming more embarrassing for him than for her. instead of looking insightful, he comes across as someone constantly chasing engagements and attention for his platform. while we’re at it, people shouldn’t ignore his history of controversial and horrid behavior. giving a kendrick album a 10 doesn’t suddenly excuse u saying the n-word multiple times, not only that, having the gumption to record yourself then post it onto the internet. those are two completely separate issues, and it shouldn’t be difficult to understand why people take issue with that. ur a grown man, please act like one. @theneedledrop
