@rgourley123 @WhistleBlowerDK My issue this season hasn't been with VAR itself but refs interpretations of certain fouls (such as pushing or shirt pulling) which gives the illusion of inconsistency over similar incidents.

@rgourley123 @WhistleBlowerDK I've seen figures quoted that correct decisions now occur 99% of the time with VAR whereas before VAR it was about 85%. Not sure how you can get any better than 99% so on the grand scheme of things it's an accurate system.

@rgourley123 @WhistleBlowerDK Slight dip? Haven't we already had the same number of VAR errors as all of last season? And it's only March. Also, is people's main issue that on-field refs are poor or that VAR is wick? Because they're two different things.

@WhistleBlowerDK It's just clickbait nonsense. The accuracy of decisions has increased significantly since VAR, so to say it's the "worse we've seen" is false, last year was the highest standard, been a slight dip this year but nothing dramatic, and it's improved since Webb took over from Riley.

@RighteousMoh @JacobsBen I wish people would stop using the phrase 'similar incidents'. In one person's mind they may be, but it doesn't mean that they are. No two incidents are the same plus fouls are subjective by nature so consistency can't exist when it's down to opinion.

This is exactly what makes the officiating look foolish. If the contact between Maguire and Evanilson isn’t considered a foul, then how is the pull and push on Amad Diallo by Adrien Truffert not at least reviewed properly? You can’t keep asking fans and players to respect decisions when the same type of contact is judged differently within the same game. That’s exactly the kind of inconsistency that damages the credibility of refereeing in the Premier League. This is where @FA_PGMOL and VAR make themselves look worse. Instead of bringing clarity, it creates more confusion because similar incidents are being interpreted in completely different ways. At this point it’s not even about favouring one team or the other, it’s about basic consistency. When the standards change from one moment to the next, the officiating just ends up looking incompetent.

Bournemouth also had a penalty shout turned away midway through the first half with Harry Maguire judged not to have pushed Evanilson in the back. Will be interesting to see whether PGMOL believe this talking point and the Amad incident involve similar types of contact. However, #MUFC are adamant VAR made a mistake, mostly notably because Adrian Truffert pulls back then pushes Amad.

Manchester United set to make a formal complaint today to PGMOL after the failure to award a second penalty in last night’s draw with Bournemouth. Club will argue Amad was clearly wrestled to ground with no attempt to play the ball. Manchester United are angry at what they perceive to be a clear VAR error. It is also noted similar penalty incidents were treated differently in the same game leading to Harry Maguire being sent off. #MUFC also unhappy with nine minutes of added time being played in the game.

@JohnHum54736209 @DaleJohnsonBBC VVD's arm is over the top of Richarlison's shoulder with this hand tucked under his armpit - sustained and meaningful holding from behind. It is subjective, just like the Cunha and Diallo calls. Can't please everyone as the ref's call can be justified whatever call he gives.

On Amad and Evanilson penalty situations. Both might or might not have been penalties. They are subjective, in the grey zone. So on-field decision stands. VAR's role is not, and ever has been, to create consistency of decision making. Each is judged individually. #BOUMUN

@JohnHum54736209 @DaleJohnsonBBC I'm saying players who chose to fall over when they can clearly stay upright are divers and don't deserve soft pens. I know why they do it but it lacks integrity. Richarlison stayed upright last week when fouled by VVD and got nothing. Maybe he's the idiot after all.

@celsofitness @DaleJohnsonBBC Yeah coz he was getting dragged backwards outside the area and the villa player was still touching him inside the penalty area. Are you saying Evanilison didn't dive last night?

@celsofitness @DaleJohnsonBBC Cunha was was getting dragged back for five yards. The fact he chose to dive after getting into the penalty area doesn't rule out DOGSO. Two hands on Diallo pulling down you blind dickhead.

@JohnHum54736209 @DaleJohnsonBBC Cunha got touched on the shoulder with 2 fingers recently and his legs mysteriously went from under him. Tonight the same thing happened. And with Diallo too. United fans can't begin to complain about pens. Cunha and Diallo need to sort their balance out, always falling.

There are degrees of subjectivity. For instance and as stated, Maguire and Evanilson are in the grey zone. Cunha is still subjective but absolutely a penalty.
Jon@jonmufc44

@DaleJohnsonBBC @sistoney67 This is very silly. Every penalty decision is subjective.

Guglielmo Vicario set to undergo hernia surgery next week but will be available on Sunday for Spurs to face Forest as he continues to play through the pain. He's expected to then be back within a month and it has been timed with Spurs' upcoming three-week break in their season.

@DaleJohnsonBBC The PL's low intervention rate of 0.27 per game presumably refers to errors being detected? That low figure doesn't mean much when the issue is the number of checks and time spent on them. A 3 minute check is still a 3 min check, whether that it leads to an intervention or not.

Europe's top leagues have been summoned to a meeting with Uefa in the summer to discuss how VAR is used. It comes after Roberto Rosetti - the head of Uefa's referees - said the game must not "go in this direction of microscopic VAR interventions". 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

@DaleJohnsonBBC VAR is for clear and obvious errors but the problem has always been that you don't know if something is clear or obvious without checking it. Therefore you check so much it slows everything down. Vicious circle that's hard to get out of.

Brighton should have been awarded a penalty in their 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal, the KMI Panel has said. Gabriel Martinelli held back Mats Wieffer. The KMI Panel also ruled that Chelsea should have got an on-field penalty against Arsenal. bbc.co.uk/sport/football…
