Crowdfunding in Nigeria is powerful. But without structure, it struggles to scale. Here’s why Nigeria needs structured crowdfunding — and what that really means.

You woke up today. That alone is a privilege many didn’t get. You have breath in your lungs, thoughts in your head, and another chance to do better, love harder, and be kinder. Don’t waste it complaining about what you don’t have. Use it to appreciate what you do have, and to help someone who has less. Life is loud. Gratitude is quiet. But gratitude always wins in the long run. What are you choosing to be grateful for today? Happy Sunday

I was brought up by my stepmother. She nurtured me. I’ve said many times that if not for my stepmom, I’ll be dead or leading a garage in Oshodi or Ogba-Aguda where I grew up. Polygamy shaped my life, positively. That is not to say some people do not experience evil. So saying all polygamous homes in reality has issues isn’t completely right. I have family friends who are also from polygamous homes and it’s as peaceful. We experience life differently and I did. My brother did. My sister did. You won’t hear any polygamy slander from us.
Oṣóyínká 🪔@sledge_baba

Na only online polygamy dey sweet. Ask anyone who grew up in a polygamous home to tell you stories first. Some of you will still tell that "My father had many wives but we lived in peace" narrative but deep down you know.

I promised myself not to tweet about my mum’s health again but this is really heavy on me. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Yesterday, my mum was praying to God to take her life. 💔 We keep saying Èni kú làgbára Ọlọrun with heavy hearts. The illness is not getting better. Yā Rabb, I am trying my best to keep praising You despite everything. Please show us mercy, grant her shifā’ and ease our hearts. 🤲🏻

But when they eventually started asking for food, did you help them? Because that’s the hard part of this conversation. Some people are genuinely hungry, while others have turned begging into a system. How do we help without encouraging dependency or manipulation? In your opinion, what’s the real solution here?

It will continue until there is nobody to give. I was shooting somewhere on the island yesterday and some group of boys came to harass me. At first, they were harsh and resentful because they saw my camera but immediately I changed it for them, they turned back begging for something to ear.

@iamnasboi What touched you was not the money he brought back. It was the honesty. In a time where many people expect deceit first, simple integrity stands out deeply. Sometimes one genuine act restores your faith in humanity. 💚

If the husband runs the house with wisdom, you’d find a partner in your co-wife who understands your struggle better than any man ever could. You’d gain a sisterhood and a support system that keeps the home standing even when you are tired.

Let’s be honest, we’re actually winning some. Children’s Day campaign: ₦89,500 raised (30% of ₦300k goal) Dignity for Every Girl: ₦489,500 raised (8% of ₦6M goal) This is not small money. This is real momentum. But we’re not popping champagne yet. We still have work to do. If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to support, this is it. Which one are you pushing across the line? Reply below. #NaijaNoCap

The hard truth nobody wants to say: Most personal bank details in Nigeria are dead on arrival. People see a random account number and immediately think “scam” even when the need is genuine. That’s why so many real causes are suffering while fraudsters still eat. ChainFundIt was built so the genuine ones can finally stand out. Stop losing donations to suspicion. Start using a platform that actually protects trust. #NaijaNoCap

Two weeks ago, my friend Tunde called me at 1:30 am, voice shaking. “Bro, my house is on fire! We barely escaped with our lives. The children are outside crying. Everything is gone, clothes, documents, furniture. The landlord is already talking about eviction if we don’t pay for the damages. I need ₦650,000 urgently for temporary accommodation and to replace the children’s school uniforms and books before Monday. Please, anything you can do.” I felt my stomach drop. I transferred ₦150,000 immediately. Other friends and family in our group chat also sent money. By morning, he sent a blurry photo of a burnt building and a voice note thanking everyone with tears in his voice. He went silent for a few days. Last Saturday, I drove past his area and decided to check on him. As I approached his street, I heard loud music. I saw his compound packed with cars. People were eating, drinking, and dancing. Tunde himself was at the centre, wearing a brand-new agbada, fresh haircut, and laughing loudly with a bottle of wine in hand. I parked and walked in, confused. “Tunde, how are you? How is the family after the fire?” He froze for a split second, then smiled broadly. “Ah, we thank God o. The fire was not too bad. Insurance covered most of it. We just used the money you all sent to do a small thanksgiving party for the family. The children are fine.” I looked around. No signs of smoke damage. No missing furniture. The house looked exactly as I remembered it from my last visit. When I asked about the photo he sent, he laughed it off: “Ah, that one? I downloaded it from the internet just to show people how serious it was. No be say I wan lie, but you know how these things be.” I drove home in silence.
