@sivori I have my main groceries delivered because I Iive a long way from any proper shops and don’t drive. I do try to get public transport when I can.
English

@ariellcacciola Great! Looking forward to submitting my novel, Crossings, to you. A mix of a story of contemporary loss, grief and haunting, combined with Victorian Gothic horror and post WWI cosmic horror.
English

Ok, agents and authors. It's me! Your friendly, local editor. I'm starting to build my 2026 list. Interested in what I'm looking for? Sure, you are. Here's my #mswl.

@LolOverruled I wish critics of this book would define 'torture porn'. Unless you believe its legions of fans are sadists and psychopaths who take perverse pleasure in the suffering of others?
English

@LolOverruled thank you for saying this. I fucking hated this book and by proxy, every single person who posted reels/tiktoks quite literally sobbing for the main character. Being an open minded hater, I read it in its entirety… I want to jump the writer so badly!!!
English

@jaden_powell @LolOverruled Yeah. I only finished it so I could have a proper discussion about it with my daughter who loved it. After many ‘discussions’ about it we’ve agreed to disagree. But I loathe it.
English

@LolOverruled But like don’t you feel like you have to finish it? I had to and it was terrible, but I am glad I did. Because I can be a full on hater now.
English

@MemorialAddress @LolOverruled True. Trouble is, in my opinion, it IS a bad piece of ‘literature’. Misery porn at its worst and at least 300 pages too long because the author apparently refused to edit it.
English

@LolOverruled Not everyone can stomach difficult subjects, that doesn’t make it a bad piece of literature. The beauty of books is that there are millions of others out there for you to choose from if a particular one doesn’t interest you 😜
English

@lettuceatcakes @LolOverruled I’ve struggled with those things and felt no connection with Jude whatsoever. I absolutely hated his character.
English

@LolOverruled I think for people who have struggled with suicidal thoughts(me) we have a very deep trauma bond with the book, but to anyone who hasn’t experienced some of the things Jude experiences I would 100% not recommend this book to literally any person.
English

@big_sister @LolOverruled Do you think books about difficult topics should not be published?
English

@LolOverruled I agree. I hated that book with a fiery passion. Misery porn at its worst.
English

@klhicks912 Both. I started writing in my teens, got a first class hons degree in creative writing and a masters in my 40s, then went on to teach creative writing students. Now retired and still writing.
English

@paulmasonnews Misogyny has already entered mainstream politics. Never really went anywhere.
English

@raeleaverrahman Yes, although we’ve always known that Jilly Cooper is in fact Jolly Super!
English

@ceris57 I do like the hair in some ways but I appreciate they didn’t “gloss it up” for modern sensibilities! It looks brittle and dry as it should! I also really appreciate that they’re treating it like a period piece - not bringing too many modern sensibilities to the story but allowing
English

@raeleaverrahman Yeah. I guess I’ll get used to it, but I do find it off putting, and it diminishes his sex appeal for me. Although of course he’s a reprehensible cad!
English

@ceris57 He’s completely not right physically, I was very surprised, and I know lots of people don’t like it but personally I think he’s very hot and charismatic lmao so I am winning 😂 it was a very surprising casting choice.
English

@raeleaverrahman Yes. It’s very privileged upper middle class, Tory sensibility, but then I believe that’s Jilly Cooper’s viewpoint too. I’ve read the book numerous times in the past, and really enjoyed them, but don’t know if I would now. Probably would tbh, but would certainly question it more.
English

@ceris57 A lens for us to look at it and say “yeah some stuff was. Not good.”
English

@mannyball_ Two things can be true at once. People can care about both, and do.
