Here is my take on what I saw the last few days at PBR Futures: 1. This group of 28s are bigger, faster and stronger. They definitely got the message of getting in the weight room. 2. You can tell which guys are only training from data. They are quick to post their numbers but locating strikes is another story. 3. Baseball IQ is something that needs taught as a result of #2 4. There will be a lot of players who get a call on 8/1 but so many will not. That does not mean they are not good players and in fact doesn't mean those that do get a call are better than they are. However there are only so many spots to go around. 5. The 2nd/3rd tier players are still really good and will absolutely help a college program. Those players need celebrated just as much as the top guys. They need avenues to develop and get better. Don't be surprised when it's this group that takes the biggest jump in a few years. 6. Parents please stop placing so many expectations that are not just realsitic. The pressure you can feel just from walking around. I know in the end parents mean well as we all want the best possible for our kids but that simply may not be what you think and that's okay. 7. As a coaching community there are guys that really care and there are those that are lazy. Do your homework on who yoigo play for. 8. Don't believe everything you see on social media. You still need to our eyes on the players to see what the highlight post doesn't. 9. Finally this continues to be one of the best events each year. They did the best they could given the weather.
