On Friday, July 25, all CESSI students and instructors got together for presentations about Uyghur culture. Students presented on a variety of topics, ranging from loan words in Uyghur, music, and Uyghur cultural gatherings. All the students of Uyghur were excited to share! 🎉

On Thursday, July 3, all CESSI students and instructors got together for cultural presentations about Kazakhstan, with an emphasis on tribalism and kinship practices. Students from the Uyghur classes asked questions and everyone participated in a lively discussion!☀️

Congratulations to our CESSI students and instructors on completing their first semester of the summer! 🎉 We cannot wait for another four weeks of learning, hard work, and fun. Make sure to "Жолыңнан тайма!" which means "Stay on your path!" 💻

The fun continues during CESSI 2025! Last week, students in the Intermediate Uyghur class took turns coming up with statements about treating guests in Uyghur and other cultures: serving tea, exchanging gifts, and as pictured above, preferred seating at a meal. ☀️

CESSI 2025 is off to a spectacular start! Pictured above are students in the Elementary Kazakh class at the start of Week 2 in a Jeopardy-style game where they reviewed greetings, leave-takings, typical questions and answers, and various grammatical forms. 🙌
