Despite all that, her character easily survived in the fandom and remained popular. The only SF character that comes somewhat close to her popularity is Wolf. If they released merch for her right now, even with no proper game appearance, it'd likely outsell the other SF merch.

Always remember that Krystal, in comparison to the other SF members, was literally treated like shit by Nintendo (with the exception of Assault). Can you imagine where she'd be if Nintendo had treated her equally while actually using at least some of her potential?

It's mind-boggling that people actually say Krystal is not popular and there is no demand for her. Now, one thing I do admit is she's no longer at the peak of her popularity. That would have been around 2007-ish. But she is still more popular than the rest of the SF team easily.

I don't see why story and gameplay have to be so intertwined. It's not like you can only make a classic on-rails SF game exclusively with the Lylat Wars story. Like I said, I'd be more open to the classic formula if they at least made sequels again and brought Krystal back.

the series needs another attempt to go on-foot again i think people’s over reliance on wanting star fox to always be an on-rail shooter and nothing more is exactly why nintendo keeps redoing the lylat wars story, and we need to get out of that mindset

@ShiningHazelnut You absolutely should. But I feel we need to do a lot more this time. We have to somehow get in contact with Nintendo in Japan, and it has to be done in a group effort. I know that Krystal's original VA is interested to join as well. Let me know if you like the idea.

@NurpTurp @ima_1966 Also, they made her a team member but never treated her the way they're treating the others. She is the only one that does not have a single piece of official merch available for instance. They didn't even include her in the SF Assault-based Orbital Gate stage cameo in Smash 4.

@NurpTurp @ima_1966 I know. My point is they have made it so many times now, that it almost feels like Nintendo doesn't want to go back to the post-64 era. This game could have easily been a sequel (so no one feels left out content-wise) and still have classic gameplay to showcase SF's roots.

@ayano_harumaki The game that started this whole mess. If they had continued on the Wii with a good Assault sequel instead of this, I am more than confident things would be a lot different right now for Krystal and the series itself. Zero and the current remake might've been actual sequels too.

I can only speak for myself here, but as someone who does prefer a mixture of gameplay ala SF Assault, I'd totally be willing to compromise and accept a game with classic gameplay, as long as it tells a brand new story that features all the characters and fleshes them out.

When it comes to things like gameplay and even character designs, it's hard to create something to everyone's satisfaction. In terms of the basic content, however, I think it would be quite easy to make everyone happy without anyone feeling left out.

@undyingnephalim If this is what SF has become right now, then I don't even want to be an SF fan anymore. I like to see a series grow and progress, and I think this is what every true fan would normally want. SF has so much more potential than what Nintendo is actually using, it's just so sad.

I have to be honest, I'm feeling more demoralized right now than I ever have. I'm questioning if I'm even really a Star Fox fan. I've never seen a fanbase flip their own script and jump at something they claimed they did not want for the last decade so fast.
