Today is the day. An end of a part of my life and a beginning of a new one. I am Retiring from the Military. I am now hanging up my Anchor. I Will be a Veteran tomorrow.
I started this journey back in OCT 2009. I joined as a Electronic Technician Nuclear. Graduated out of MARF in class 1101. Went to the Sub USS NORTH DAKOTA (SSN-784). During my time there I got Medically Disqualified for Subs and Nuclear. I had an EDMC that wanted me to not be a Nuke and he made it happen. When I left the Sub. He told me that I should really consider not being in "His Navy". I told him to go fuck himself. While waiting to move on to the next part of my naval carrier I worked over at DEVRON 12 and the TAG. My job was the personnel driver for the Commodore. However I found and did multiple jobs. Including working in the TAG. The Tactical Analysis Group. I had so much fun and saw so many cool and wild things in that job.
Cross rated over to GSE (Gas Turbine Systems Technician - Electrical) and served on board the USS GETTYSBURG. Was on their last deployment before they went in the yards for SLEP (Service Life Extension Program). We went from a 350 man crew down to 42. We didn't have a Doc. So as a First Class I became the Medical Officer. That was stressful. But it made me learn how to be a better leader.
I left there in 2018 where I became an Instructor over at what was called at that time SWOS Newport RI. I taught Chengs and MPAs. My claim to fame is I wrote and designed the entire class for LHA class ship. The classroom and trainers didn't exist before I got there. That is where I put on Anchors and became a Chief.
After my time there I went to The USS Higgins out of Yokosuka Japan. That is where I finally broke hard. I was out on patrol and I got a Dear John letter. My 4th in my military carrier. This affected me hard. I had recognized the dark thoughts and asked for help. The ship was the best and made sure I got the help needed. While TAD to CSD. The base Doc looked at the pool of bodies that were broken and trying to heal and used us to be the suicide watch for the entire base. I was in charge of that. I had 3 to 5 people attempt suicide every week for 7 months straight. a few had succeeded and I had to go to them and had to tell their Brothers and Sisters. That completely broke me hard. I went Medical board. They sent me off to San Diego where I worked as the LCPO for Division 2 of LIMDU Sailors and then I was the DLCPO of all LIMDU and Medboard. When I left I had 250 Sailors under my command.
I have PTSD from all of the trauma that I had dealt with. I am sadly medically retired. However I take solace that I have touched sailors lives and I have kept people alive. I am proud of what I have done. I still want to do more. However I am taking comfort in that fact that the Military said I had done enough.
To all of my friends still in. Thank you. To all of my family. I love you and thank you for all of the support. I could not have done this without you.
Navy Chief Navy Pride. Thank you and you have the watch.

@cf24372723 And thank you for what you have done too. I will admit it still feels weird being on this side.
