This study identified key molecular and immunological relationships with cervicovaginal inflammation that could have important implications for reproductive health including HIV susceptibility and cervical cancer progression

We found that cervical CD14+ cells were increased with increased inflammation, identified differences in bacteria and bacterial metabolism, and found relationships between inflammation and metabolites including increased xanthine with high inflammation
