I first got into ham radio as a backpacking LARP a few years ago. ("If I'm ever lost in the woods in the middle of nowhere with no phone signal *and* my Garmin inReach is lost or broken *and* I had my other radio *and* I knew the space station's trajectory schedule... I could still call for help!") One great take away from learning how to actually contact the space station: This is a horrible idea as an actual emergency communications back-up plan... But it's still extremely fun!

I did it. I finally talked to a space station!

#Python practices survey: Beginners often ask how they can import a module from another directory. What do you tell them? Just start up from that directory? Manually edit sys.path? Set the PYTHONPATH environment variable? Create and run setup·py to install it?

I’m about to be admitted to hospital as a result of some abdominal pain and some concerning liver function tests. Likely spending Christmas here. Those that are able to spend time with loved ones - make the most of it.
