SPORTS GIRLS SOCCER SPECIAL FEATURE ARTICLE: SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO WEST BRIDGEWATER HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR KYLIE FULLER – After Kylie Fuller scored 139 goals in her high school career and 35 goals in the 2024 season as one of the top leaders in the state of Massachusetts, her special love and passion for soccer continues. Senior Kylie Fuller is the first in West Bridgewater High School history for the girls' soccer program to be recruited and committed to play for a division 1 college. As a humble person for all of those who know her, she was an effective leader on the soccer field where actions spoke louder than words during her career at West Bridgewater High School. She strived to be the best she personally could yet at the same time was the ultimate team player in helping and supporting her team members in any way she could during her career at the school and everywhere else she played in her life. Soccer has been her special passion since she was young. The gifted senior became the first in school history for the girls' soccer program to be recruited and committed to play for a division 1 college and will take her talent to play at Merrimack College in 2025. As a senior she was one of the top goal scorers in the State of Massachusetts with 35 while also contributing 6 assists in the 2024 season. She ended her career at West Bridgewater High School with an astounding 139 goals, 43 assists and 182 total points. Kylie Fuller’s complete stats and accolades are listed at the end of this article. This special article to tribute Kylie Fuller’s love for the game of soccer and historical career at West Bridgewater High School includes interviews and statements from Kylie Fuller, her parents Christy and Tom Fuller, her brother and former West Bridgewater graduate and athletic standout Ben Fuller as well as contributions from her 2 senior soccer teammates and longtime friends – Bella Morash and Samara David. QUESTION AND ANSWER WITH KYLIE FULLER. WB News: At what age did you start playing soccer and what leagues did you play in your career aside from playing on the WB high school team? Kylie Fuller: I started playing West Bridgewater town soccer at U8 and travel soccer at U10. I also started playing club soccer at around U10 for LFC and then playing for Scorpions SC until now! WB News: How did any of those previous leagues help you to develop your skills? Kylie Fuller: I think growing up and playing in different leagues helped me develop my IQ for the game along with making great relationships with my teammates and coaches. I also learned what my strengths and weaknesses were and how to improve on them and use them to my advantage. WB News: What made you love the sport of soccer so much compared to other sports? Kylie Fuller: What made me love soccer so much compared to other sports was just the fact that it came so naturally to me the first time I touched the ball. I did not have that feeling with any other sport I tried growing up. Soccer is my safe space and my second home where I could truly be myself. WB News: When did you become a member on the WB high school girls' varsity team and how did it make you feel when that time came? Kylie Fuller: I started playing varsity soccer for WB when I was in 7th grade. I remember getting back on the bus after our last scrimmage during tryouts hearing my coach say I was on varsity, and it was one of the most surreal moments for me. It was an amazing opportunity to play at that level so young with girls that were so much older and to be challenged and get better every day! WB News: What were some of your most memorable times playing soccer in your career at WBHS or any level? Kylie Fuller: Some of the most memorable times in my career at WB would be scoring my 100th goal and scoring in the final four game 2 years ago. For the club I would say winning the Jeff Cup when I was younger and the experience of traveling for college showcases with my team. WB News: What do you consider some of your best accomplishments since playing soccer? Kylie Fuller: Some of my best accomplishments throughout my soccer career would be achieving 182 career points at West Bridgewater High School second most in school history and becoming the second highest goal scorer in West Bridgewater High School history with 139 goals. Another one would be having the opportunity to attend the US Youth National Team Regional ID Center in 2021. WB News: How did you decide after being recruited to commit to Merrimack College? Kylie Fuller: When talking to Merrimack it just felt right! When I went in for my first visit everyone was so welcoming and kind to me. It was a feeling where I just knew I loved everything about it. I loved the campus, the atmosphere, and I think most importantly was feeling wanted and that was what made it so easy to realize that Merrimack was for me. WB News: How does it make you feel that very few athletes in WB school history of any sports were ever offered a division 1 scholarship and you were one of them? Kylie Fuller: I find it an honor to be one of the few athletes in West Bridgewater High School history in any sport to be able to get recruited and commit to play for a division 1 college. It was not easy, so I am incredibly grateful to be able to have this opportunity. WB News: What are your future goals? Kylie Fuller: My future goals are to do the best that I can at Merrimack College. I want to make a difference on and off the field and show people what I am capable of at an even higher level! Outside of soccer I want to excel academically and come out of Merrimack with a degree and a career ahead of me. WB News: Who or what people would you like to make a statement about people who have supported your career in soccer and why? Kylie Fuller: Playing town soccer when I was younger, I was coached by Kevin Morash, the father of one of my best friends. He has been there for me since day 1 and he helped me grow to love the sport more. He did so much for me and the team! I cannot thank him enough. When I joined Scorpions the two coaches that I look up to are Evan Burokas and Bob Meals. They have supported me more than I could have ever asked for. They taught me pretty much everything I know when it comes to soccer and helped me through the recruitment process. I am especially forever grateful for my family. They have been my number one fans. My parents bringing me to practice every week, travel with me to showcases and providing me with everything I need to succeed. I am also so lucky to have a brother who has always been there for me and comes to my games when he can and shares advice even when I do not want to hear it lol. I am so thankful for everybody else around me that has supported me as well! QUESTION AND ANSWER WITH CHRISTY AND TOM FULLER – PARENTS. WB News: Please say anything you want about Kylie’s soccer career and her in general including memorable times, highlights and how it impacted you? Christy and Tom Fuller: Ever since Kylie saw her older brother Ben start playing soccer, she could not wait to be able to sign up and be just like him! He has always been a wonderful role model and has always supported and helped her through it all! Soon enough she was playing West Bridgewater town, travel, and dome soccer. Throughout all of that, she has made lifelong friends and wonderful memories (us too)! We will never forget watching her play town soccer and her team winning multiple trophies and championships! Plus playing in so many fun soccer tournaments as well!! It was not long before she wanted to start playing club soccer. We loved every minute of watching her develop as a person and player and making even more memories and friendships at the club level! From making the Scorpions SC ECNL team to making HS Varsity in 7th grade she was busy! Soccer became such a big part of her life (and ours)! Part of that was learning how to juggle school, family time and a social life while still training and traveling for her games, which she has handled with such maturity and grace. Throughout her whole career, she has always tried so hard to succeed and along the way has always remained so humble! Something we absolutely love about her!! Because of that, and her passion and love for the game, we watched her become a wonderful captain, role model and friend to the younger players! Makes a parent proud. One of her dreams has always been to play Division 1 college soccer and to watch her accomplish this was another enormously proud moment! It certainly was not easy, but her hard work and determination helped her reach that dream. She has been so fortunate to have the support of her family, teammates, friends, and coaches in her soccer history to help her reach this goal! Sad to see her High School career end, but we cannot wait to be beside her to experience the next chapter of her journey!! QUESTION AND ANSWERS WITH BEN FULLER - BROTHER WB News: Please say anything you want about Kylie’s soccer career and her in general including memorable times, highlights and how it impacted you? Ben Fuller: Watching Kylie grow up and blossom into the person and player she is today has been nothing short of amazing. From seeing her dominate in U10s to seeing her play against D1 athletes in club day in and day out, I have never thought she was not the best player on the field. Her vision combined with her play making ability makes her almost impossible to defend, and then adding in a laser shot that is unsavable. She is one of the most talented players I have ever seen. Some days after she plays, I may be her biggest critic, getting on her for the smallest of details, but I hope that every time she has been mad at me for telling her where to improve, she has taken that out of love and used it to make her game better. On top of this, watching her become a great leader and person is even more important. No matter how hard something gets or how frustrated I can tell she is, she has never taken it out on anyone and has always remained a great friend and leader which I think is much more important than any of her on field accomplishments. I am proud to be able to say I am her brother and cannot wait to see all the amazing things she accomplishes in the future! QUESTION AND ANSWER FROM BELLA MORASH – TEAMMATE. WB News: Please say any positive and memorable moments about playing with Kylie and what she meant to you and the soccer program? Bella Morash: For my tribute to Kylie, I want to take the time to mention how lucky but also thankful I am to have been able to grow up playing soccer with her. It has been so special being able to watch her grow as a player and a person alongside that. When we were younger, we would always joke that she would become a professional athlete because of how good she was, and I have no doubt that she would be able to make that happen today. Her passion for soccer has carried her on for so long and the devotion she has towards the sport has shown. I am so grateful to have been able to witness Kylie’s soccer career as it was advancing right in front of me. I created some of my favorite and most memorable moments with Kylie this past 2024 soccer season as we were both Captains of our high school soccer team. Moments shared on the field, team dinners and side hangouts have created such a bond I will hold forever. I will always remember the feeling of running up to her after she scored, congratulating her when she scored her 100th career goal or spend all the late afternoons joking with our coaches. However, the most important memory I have with Kylie will forever be hugging each other and walking off the field beside her after our last high school game ever. In that moment I was reminded of everything we have experienced and all the memories we share. I had flashbacks to our entire soccer careers and how we spent so much of it with each other. So many moments shared between us and especially our families. Both of our Dad’s coached us while our Moms were our biggest fans on the sidelines. Being next to Kylie as she finished her high school soccer career was truly an honor. I am beyond lucky to have had a front row seat to watch her accomplish every goal I always knew she was capable of. And I can only imagine what else she will strive to accomplish in the years to follow. Kylie is a fantastic soccer player and an incredible individual, and I know her future is full of success. I cannot wait to watch her shine next year in 2025 and I will be visiting Merrimack to cheer her on. QUESTION AND ANSWER FROM SAMARA DAVID – TEAMMATE WB News: Please say any positive and memorable moments about playing with Kylie and what she meant to you and the soccer program? Samara David: Kylie has positively influenced me for as long as I can remember. We are good friends off the field and have shared many laughs. We built up our bond during freshman year because we had so many classes and lunch periods together. Seeing her as a friend, not just a teammate, was great. She was always very athletic, so I was grateful to see her on any roster that I was on. I was so proud of her for reaching 100 goals last year in 2023; this was an accomplishment I knew she deserved. Even now, she amazes me, as I call her “King Kylie,” who always has the perfect shot or touch on the ball. My go-to line when she scores is, “I love Kylie Fuller!” because I do. I am so lucky to know her. PHOTO CREDIT: Thank you to J. P. Matta Photography and Media for the amazing photo of Kylie Fuller as shown in this article. Special Thank You from Kylie Fuller: I would truly like to thank all my friends and teammates for their incredible support throughout my soccer career at West Bridgewater. Your friendships have meant the world to me. You’ve pushed me to work harder, stay motivated, and keep reaching my goals. The past six years of memories we’ve shared on and off the field are ones I’ll cherish forever. Thank you for making my journey so unforgettable!
