@GuyPlummer34449 Guy, well I'm confused too. I will also try to get some answers as Deputy Leadbeater did not answer my previous questions. I want clear precise answers, not deflecting, avoiding, just answer 1, 2, 3. Oh probably 4 and 5 now.

Yep, first thing I asked when I saw the outfit, “who did the paint job?” 🤭 Followed by, “Kim who…?”

Just a headline, but if actually carried out as promised wef 2030, serious reason for the CI public sectors to do the same - and the recent tribunal cleared the way for Guernsey at least to do so. One to watch.

@cg_murray @GuyPlummer34449 It is a good opportunity to give an impression of public sentiment mid term or early term. But I suspect getting the voters to come out will be a major challenge?

@GuyPlummer34449 I see that everybody apart from me are negative nellies about turnout. Think the candidates need to start stirring the pot and using the platform to engage with interesting things. Not stirring up apathy round the island Have people forgotten the Suffragettes? The Chartists?

@GuyPlummer34449 Guy. P&R do not tell us the full story on everything. All secreted. Squeezed out by the likes of Scrutiny, F.o.I. s etc. Who elected them as OUR representatives? Us, sadly. Ha, less Accountable Government. Not happened for many many years. We will never know.

1 Looks like my prediction is going pretty well Whatever P&R might message…. The purchase of Leales Yard will mean that, at the end of ithis term, there’ll be fewer than 320 homes built than there might have been. What I didn’t foresee tho… Was less accountable government
Guy Plummer@GuyPlummer34449

My prediction this term, as last term. We will get less of what we want or more of what we don’t want Less Housing Economic growth Aspirational Education More Public sector growth Regulation parading as real achievement. Please prove me wrong.

The detail behind this @GuernseyPress headline today is gravely worrying, particularly in light of the forthcoming MyGov debacle report. Plug pulled on Leale’s Yard for no reason?

I’m calling it now as THE political Cassandra There will be no tangible progress on flood defences by 2027 At which point, E&I/P&R will advise that all such matters will be for the next Assembly to decide.

@GuyPlummer34449 No point buying up land if you don't build on it. Just like Asset rich but Cash poor.

@richarddigard @GuyPlummer34449 The CU market started very small. Just a bunch of farmers. One needed a tractor They banded together and he got his tractor. He was able to produce crops again and supplied the farmers' market. And so it flourished!!

@cg_murray @GuyPlummer34449 My bro-in-law worked at the police credit union in Dublin - it was a brilliant, lifeline organisation. Believe CUs were investigated here some years ago. Issues of scale if memory serves??

@richarddigard @GuyPlummer34449 I would like to see a CI Credit Union. All are Members. Share in profit like a Co-op. Some provide the funds and earn interest. Others borrow at cost. That is what happened with Farmers. I worked at a Credit Union in Canada and it was so successful.

@richarddigard @Govgg Maybe others might report it. What mess here. No rent controls...and Gov won't bring it in. Too many rent out properties.

This is a terribly sad P1 from the Metro today. But this man’s rent AFTER the increase was £540 a month. In Guernsey, they’re more than £2,000 a month, nearly £26k a year. What misery are we piling on our community as a result @Govgg ?

@richarddigard Yes they would and yes status quo for us. I think we will have to wait a very long time for such an admittance and it won't come from Deputy Morel. But maybe Morel's successor might.

@cg_murray I think they’d welcome it - as long as there was no dilution of the Guernsey service, particularly caused by Jersey’s tidal issues. If there were to be negotiations, that and Jersey paying compensation to DFDS likely to be sticking points. Oh, and saying “we got it wrong”! 🤭

If you saw this in today's @GuernseyPress and wondered wtf, I think it has its roots in 1930s boiler legislation and 1950s health and safety because GEL is deemed a "factory" as it generates electricity. @advocategreen1 ?
