Wow many trees in keswick have PMS (plant moisture stress), starting to wilt and change colour like it’s fall. It takes at least 3cm of cumulative rainfall over a 7 day period to moisten a foot of soil. I feel that the last time that happened was in May.

Here are some late June flowering trees in the Toronto area: kousa dogwood, linden, Japanese lilac, catalpa. Photos taken this week. Also in flower are American elderberry shrubs.

Autumn olive are in flower and just as intoxicatingly fragrant as buckthorn. Wow! Very fragrant!

European buckthorn are in flower and are super fragrant! The whole forest smells like a cloud of wonderfully flowery fragrance.

If you have boxwood shrubs that don’t look well, look for these guys. I took this photo yesterday. Box tree moth are about to pupate and start their next generation.

Serious action at the bat box tonight. The tenant population has increased from 2 bats 3 years ago to about 10 now.

@Hap_Sneddon I still ❤️plant trees in Ontarios northern forests with a shovel, just slower than my 20s. It’s an addictive life lesson in discovering your physical limits and mental grit, facing relentless biting bugs, scorching heat, and extreme weather.

@cgynan Wish I had one of those machines (but with super duper AWD) when I was planting with my short blade and planter's bag.
