Pulling 5,000 troops from Germany isn’t a strategy—it’s a handout to Putin and a violation of the law. Trump is using our military to settle personal scores with allies while we’re at war. Congress must enforce the NDAA guardrails and stop this. Substack link in comments.

Xavier Becerra

I've spent 35 years fighting for California. @TomSteyer spent that time: Investing $90 million in private prisons that cage migrants. Building a bank that preyed on working people. Funding coal companies, then hiding the profits offshore. Getting sued by employees for wage theft. Now he wants to spend $150 million to buy the governor's office. California deserves a fighter. Not a billionaire trying to buy his way in.

Becerra: Whoever goes into that governor’s office should not need training wheels. This is a time of crisis—whether it’s a man-made crisis in Washington, D.C., or the cost-of-living crisis we face here at home. We have to have someone who knows how to get us through a crisis. That’s what I’ve done—whether it was getting us out of the COVID crisis when I was Secretary of Health and Human Services or getting us through the avian flu or monkeypox crises, where I had to declare states of emergency in each of those cases. No other candidate can say they’ve done that. No other candidate can say they have balanced a budget larger than the budget of the state of California. No one can say they’ve gone toe to toe and beaten Donald Trump the way I can. I sued him over 120 times when he was president the first time and I was attorney general—and I beat him.

WE NEED TO KEEP CALLING THIS OUT BECAUSE IT MATTERS: California is the 4th largest economy on Earth, and the most populous state in the country. This isn’t a place for amateurs. Becerra has the experience for a state this big, this complex, and this consequential. I’m not interested in gambling on Steve Hilton, the guy who cheered on Brexit and helped crash the British economy. California is not a lab for imported bad ideas. Or Chad Bianco, a conspiracy theorist and ballot thief, running on fear, while his department ranked dead last in solving major crimes and was the highest-paid sheriff in the state. High pay for dead-last performance is highway robbery.

MARGE: “It was the most shocking thing when I sat in a conference meeting and learned Trump didn’t want to release the Epstein files… to be asked by the president to back off and not help these women— that’s when MAGA died. That’s when the entire thing shattered for me.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene says Trump told her that people at Mar-a-Lago would be hurt by the release of the Epstein files. Greene: Trump said his friends would get hurt if we release the Epstein files. He said, “Marjorie, these are good people. These are people you know at Mar-a-Lago. People in Palm Beach—they’re going to get hurt by this.” And I said, “Mr. President, people have been hurt. These women have been hurt. Have you talked to them? You should talk to them. You should have them in the Oval Office, Mr. President. You have everybody in the Oval Office—you have sports teams, you have world leaders, you have al-Qaeda terrorists that are now leading Syria, you have Mamdani. I mean, you have everybody in the Oval Office. Surely, you can have these women. Talk to them. I talk to them all the time. As a matter of fact, many of them voted for you.” That’s what I told him—they voted for you. Epstein victims voted for Donald Trump, and he wouldn’t have anything to do with them. And he told me his friends would get hurt. And I said, “I’m not taking my name off the discharge petition.”

BREAKING: Pete Hegseth faces PERJURY ACCUSATIONS after repeating this false claim in Congressional testimony twice! Lying to Congress is perjury. It carries a penalty of up to five years in federal prison and significant fines. Pete Hegseth may want to consult a lawyer. At a House Armed Services Committee hearing on Wednesday, Hegseth claimed that "in 2024, troops were deployed to polling locations in 15 states" under President Biden. He repeated the claim twice for emphasis, pointing dramatically at the accusation as if he'd caught Biden red-handed violating federal law. CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale contacted all 15 states Hegseth referenced. Every single state that responded said the same thing: no troops were deployed to polling locations. Not one. Iowa's National Guard spokesperson put it plainly: "We have never gone to a polling station as part of an election." Arizona's Guard said two personnel were on cybersecurity standby — "No such request was made." Pennsylvania: "No Pennsylvania National Guard members were located at polling locations." North Carolina: "No personnel deployed to polling stations." West Virginia: "We did not have personnel present at polling stations." Delaware, Illinois, and New Mexico — all the same answer. Some states said their Guard wasn't even formally activated. Oregon pointed out it conducts elections entirely by mail, making the claim doubly absurd. The Defense Department received CNN's requests for comment and chose not to respond. When Democratic Senator Elissa Slotkin challenged Hegseth on his false claim at a Senate hearing Thursday, he didn't correct himself. He repeated it: "By the way, in 2024, under the Biden administration, 15 states did deploy troops to polling stations." Again. Not true. Again. Under oath. Before Congress. There is an ironic footnote here. The general election in which National Guard troops were actually deployed to some polling locations was 2020, during Trump's first term, when election workers couldn't perform their duties because of COVID-19. Hegseth apparently has the administrations involved confused. Or he's lying. Given that he repeated the false claim after being corrected, the latter seems more likely. Perjury — knowingly making false statements to Congress — is a federal felony carrying up to five years in prison. James Comey was indicted over a seashell Instagram photo. Hegseth made demonstrably false statements to Congress. Twice. Under oath. We'll see which one the Justice Department prioritizes. Please like and share this article if you think the Secretary of Defense should face the same consequences for lying to Congress as anyone else.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made a false claim in his testimony to the House on Wednesday. Then he repeated it in his testimony to the Senate on Thursday. Hegseth said Wednesday: “In 2024, troops were depl… – that was Joe Biden by the way, Joe Biden –  were deployed to polling locations in 15 states." He continued, "2024 – Joe Biden – troops deployed to polling locations in 15 states. Explain that one to me.” Here’s the explanation: Hegseth’s claim isn't true. Not only were all National Guard activations for the 2024 election done by individual states rather than Biden, all 11 states that responded to my inquiries said *no troops* there were sent to polling places. Rather, they said, Guard personnel were in other locations helping with election cybersecurity, doing other behind-the-scenes support work, or not actually activated for the election after all.
